Chapter 1241

    ?Chapter 1241:

And just like Jesse had figured, everything went exactly the way he nned. Right when Nina finished thest of her snacks, it was lunchtime. n came to get them so they could find something to eat again.

And just like that, Jesse had managed to dodge another round on the pirate ship.

That afternoon, when n and Nina tried to take Jesse to y, he declined with a blunt excuse, saying the sun was too harsh and his skin would burn easily.<fn02e6> Read full story at ?ovelFind</fn02e6>

n wiped the sweat from his forehead and squinted up at the sky. “You know what… fair. It’s a furnace out here.” It was peak summer—the kind of day where the pavement sizzled, and you could practically see the air shimmer. “How about we hit Ice World instead?” n suggested, grinning. “Nice and cool. Feels like a fridge in there.”

“I’m in!” Nina beamed. She never turned down a chance to y.

Jesse let out a small sigh but followed them anyway.

By the time the sun dipped and the day wound down, n and Nina were riding a sugar high, ughing like lunatics and recounting every moment like it was the best day ever.

Jesse? He’d endured the morning and coasted through the afternoon. Truth be told, the rides didn’t do much for him. Give him a book over bumper cars any day.

If n had known what Jesse was really thinking, he would’ve called him a little weirdo again.

Back home, n finally checked his phone and saw a message from Freya that hade in earlier. “Jesse doesn’t actually like amusement parks.” n blinked.

He quickly typed back. “Really? Nina said he always picks them when you ask where they want to go. You sure?”

“He only says that because Nina likes them. He goes for her,” Freya replied. Jesse had always been a smart kid. But he never showed much interest in games. The only things that could get his attention were things like Lego bricks. n stared at the message. He looked over at Jesse, who was now curled up in the corner with a book, pletely at peace.

The thought hit him like a stray dodgeball.

Back in the day, he used to take Freya and Ethel out just to have fun himself, using them as an excuse.

But Jesse? This kid was too grown-up for his own good.

n started typing again. “Don’t you think Jesse’s a little too mature for his age?” His fingers flew over the keyboard as he pressed on. “I’m starting to think he’s some…”

“Kind of reincarnated adult. Kid acts like he remembers his past life.” Only a full-grown adult would walk around totally uninterested in things made for kids.

Jesse wasn’t like every other kid.

    “Stop overthinking,” Freya replied.

n pursed his lips but dropped it. Still, the thought lingered.

Later that evening, watching Jesse quietly flipping through another book like he had all the time in the world, n couldn’t help himself.

He walked over and asked in a low voice, “Hey, is there some reason you didn’t want to y today?”

Jesse froze for a second. “No,” he said curtly.
