?Chapter 1135:
Yvonne didn’t respond. She didn’t even look at her. Without another word, she turned away and calmly walked back to her desk, sitting down as if nothing had happened. Papers rustled as she resumed her work, unbothered.
Heidi stood frozen for a moment, then stumbled back in defeat. The fire in her eyes died out as she slowly backed away, blocked off by her former colleagues, humiliated.
At the edge of the office, Morse stood with his arms folded, having watched the entire scene unfold. When he saw Yvonne calmly return to her desk, he raised his voice, firm and clear.
The tension broke. The crowd began to scatter, though many couldn’t help but sneak a final nce at Heidi as she trudged toward the exit, a ghost of the person she once was.
It wasn’t until she disappeared that they finally returned to their tasks, murmuring in hushed tones.
Yvonne, for her part, was done. She ignored the stares, the whispers, the lingering energy in the air. Her mind was back on her work—focused and clear. And for the first time in a long while, she felt a deep, satisfying sense of closure.
By the time evening rolled around, Yvonne had packed up and was ready to leave.
Just as the clock struck the end of the workday, the doors opened—and a familiar figure stepped inside.
The staff collectively stared in stunned silence.
Yvonne looked up, her expression calm—almost as if she had been expecting him. Norton walked in without hesitation, cutting through the room like he owned the ce. He headed straight to her, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her gently toward him.
Then, casting a slow, pointed nce around the office, he said coolly, “I see everyone’s been very helpful to my wifetely.”
The room went dead quiet. Some people blinked. Others stood frozen in ce. A few sharp-eyed staff members quickly realized who he was. Whispers erupted in the background.
“That’s Norton Burke! That’s really him!”
“Can you believe it? It’s actually him!”

“Yvonne is his wife? Oh, God! We’ve been working alongside his wife all this time!”
“Heidi and Malvina must be desperate. Embezzlement? What a ridiculous usation!”
Voices buzzed among the crowd, curious eyes darting between Yvonne and Norton.
Yvonne nced at Norton, her expression tight, silently ming him for the spectacle.
He met her look with a lifted brow and a steady gaze. “What’s with the face? I can’t pick up my own wife from work?”
With a quick shake of her head, she gestured toward the exit. “Yes, yes, you can. Just—let’s go.”
Forcing a smile, she allowed him to draw her close, his arm slipping around her shoulders as they moved through the sea of watching colleagues. Once they were out of sight, Yvonne let out a long, pent-up breath.
“This is more exhausting than a ck-tie g,” she muttered under her breath. Turning her head slightly, she looked at Norton from the corner of her eye. “Why all the theatrics today?”
