?Chapter 1331:
It wasn’t until the sound of footsteps came from the stairs that Ste opened her eyes. When she saw it was only Bryan, her expression shifted.
“Where’s Eileen?” Le asked first.
Bryan responded softly, “She’s still asleep, and Gabri hasn’t woken up, either. If you need her to do anything, I can do it for her.”
Ste opened her mouth to speak, but before she could say anything, Le said, “You can’t do it. How could a man handle these tasks? Your hands are for working. Leave the chores to the women. Go and wake Eileen up.”
“She sleeps more during pregnancy. If she doesn’t rest well, her mood might suffer, and it could affect her eating. When I married her—” Bryan, confused by Le’s words, tried to exin patiently.
But Le didn’t allow him to continue, interjecting, “Don’t bring up the past. Let’s focus on now. She hasn’t even given you a son to be the Dawson family’s heir. She hasn’t achieved anything significant. It’s just one day. What’s the big deal? If you won’t wake her, then I will.” As she spoke, Le stood up and started leaving the dining room.
“Wait,” Ste quickly said, stopping Le. “There’s no need to be so harsh. Bryan has a point. Eileen is pregnant. Let her rest a little longer. Bryan can assist me.”
Le paused, frowning. “Is that really appropriate?”
Ste replied, “There’s nothing wrong with it.”
“Then I’ll help, too. I’ve prepared Christmas Eve dinners in Onnd many times, so I should know a thing or two.” Ruby rolled up her sleeves and efficiently began the preparations.
Ste gave instructions from the side, and everyone else present proceeded in an organized fashion. After a while, Bryan started making breakfast. He knew Eileen would be hungry when she woke up.
Le went to the living room to watch TV while snacking. Every now and then, she nced toward the dining room, her face calm.
By the time it was almost eight, daylight had filled the room. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, brightening the once dim space.
The light fell directly on Eileen’s eyes. She ducked under the covers, but within a few seconds, she sat up quickly. Reaching for her phone on the nightstand, she saw it was almost eight in the morning. Even Gabri was already awake!
Without hesitation, she tossed aside the covers, tied her hair in a messy bun, and left the room to head downstairs.
But then, she noticed Le sitting in the hallway. She wasn’t sure where Le had found a small chair, but there she was, sitting on it.
“I knew you would be anxious when you woke up. No need to rush. Go wash up. Everything is fine downstairs. Ste is a bit upset, but I lost my temper before she could,” Le smiled with pride.
The corner of Eileen’s mouth twitched when she heard this. She returned to her room to wash up.
She wasn’t anxious or scared of Ste, but during the Christmas holiday, she didn’t want to upset anyone. Besides, Ste had told her to wake up early today, yet she had slept in.
She believed it must have been Bryan who had turned off her rm. She should have set a few more.
