Chapter 544

    ?Chapter 544:

Slowly, the sensation returned under Eileen’s tender touch.

Bryan clenched his hand, signaling her to stop. “It’s fine now; the numbness has passed.”

Eileeny down next to him, and together, they wrapped Gabri in a gentle embrace, ying with her quietly.

Gabri, though still slightly shaken, began to show signs of recovery, much to Eileen’s relief.

But Eileen still didn’t go to the office. Julio and Benjamin, fully aware of her situation, had stepped in to manage her responsibilities.

EB Group remained leaderless, and it troubled Eileen to learn that Raymond was calling Bryan from time to time instead of updating her about work.

After breakfast, Bryan took a lengthy call from Raymond. He emerged from the study thirty minutester with a serious expression.

“I need to go to EB Groupter. Tonight, I might have to leave for a business trip,” Bryan said.

“A business trip?” Eileen felt an odd tightness in her chest as she stood and faced Bryan. “Is it something very important? Couldn’t it wait a few days?”

Her expressive eyes showed a mix of reluctance and sheer panic.

She could soothe Gabri, while Bryan brought peace to her soul.

Her look tightened Bryan’s chest, rendering him speechless for a moment.

“Are you keeping something from me?” Eileen furrowed her eyebrows. She then nced at Ruby, who was tending to Gabri.

Ruby, however, only knew that Bryan had some negotiations with Coen after she left the factory with Gabri.

Ruby shook her head at Eileen.

“Come with me.” Eileen led Bryan upstairs, closed the bedroom door, and backed him against the wall. “If you dare—”

“me myself,” Bryan said, cutting her off. “I think, if I hadn’t pushed for us to go to Wist Land, you would have been living a normal life now, not caught up in all this. I’m not sure if my mistake was failing to protect you or dragging you into this mess.”

He bowed his head, holding her arms tenderly.

He was afraid that if he held her close, he might not be able to do what needed to be done next.

Eileen couldn’t meet his sad eyes.

She dropped her gaze, gathered herself, and then looked up again. “I don’t regret any of the steps we’ve taken. From now on, I just want our family to be okay.”

Bryan’s throat moved as he was unable to say a simple “okay.”

Eventually, he shifted the conversation. “You’repletely focused on Gabri right now. Let me take care of the business matters for a bit. Otherwise… being idle will make me overthink.”
