Chapter 536

    ?Chapter 536:

Eventually, Eileen was able to calm down. “Did you rescue Gabri? How did you do that? What have they done to you? Or did you promise them anything?”

Bryan bent down and carefully helped Eileen with her shoes. After a moment of silence, he looked up at her.

“You look frightened.” He smiled and kissed her gently. “Josue arrived just in time with his ex-wife’s brother and saved us. But Coen managed to escape. Now, they’re pursuing him with everything they’ve got.”

This incident hadn’t hit the news yet, and many failed arrests like this would be kept a secret.

So, even if Eileen tried to find out more, she wouldn’t be able to.

However, Bryan was telling the truth. Dewitt had arrived just after he had injected the drug.

Coen had made it to the rooftop and escaped by helicopter. Many of his men had been killed on the spot.

It was rumored that two people close to Coen had not been killed; they were left alive for the police to gather more information.

As Bryan had anticipated, when those forces arrived, they hadn’t checked for hostages at the abandoned factory but instead began aggressively arresting Coen’s people.

However, neither Dewitt and his group nor Coen’s followers had made any move against Bryan.

“Really?” Eileen looked intently into Bryan’s eyes, searching for any hint of deceit.

    She was skeptical.

A viin like Coen, so indifferent to human life, would surely have tried his best to fight, perhaps bringing Bryan down with him if necessary.

How could he have allowed Bryan and Gabri to return safely?

Visibly anxious, Eileen clutched Bryan’s arm tightly. “Tell me the truth. I can bear it. It doesn’t matter what happened, as long as you and Gabri are alive.”

She was so anxious that she didn’t notice the tiny, red needle mark under her finger on Bryan’s arm.

“You don’t believe me?” Bryan stood up, gently pushing her hand away. He grasped her wrist, reassuringly saying, “I’ll take you to see Gabri. She’s safe and unharmed.”

Bryan feigned ease and led Eileen out of the ward.

Gabri had been deeply shaken and often woke from sleep in a startle, but the doctors said she was physically fine and just needed time to recover from the shock.

When Eileen and Bryan reached Gabri’s ward, the doctor was just leaving and halted them at the door.
