Chapter 1659

    ?Chapter 1659:

She leaned into him, pressing closer with a sense of reliance. “I didn’t tell you about my suspicions before because I didn’t want to worry you, not because I didn’t trust you.”

Her voice then grew firmer. “From now on, I swear, no matter what happens or who’s involved, I’ll be open with you. So please, don’t be upset, alright?”

“Alright.” Lucas’ furrowed brow gradually rxed.

Then, a thought sparked in his mind. He tilted his head slightly and asked, “So when you agreed to let Faye move into our home, you were testing her, weren’t you?”

Belinda gave a simple nod. “Yes.”

Lucas let out a resignedugh. “No wonder. I knew something felt off about you back then.”

Now that the pretense had dissolved, Belinda saw no reason to hold anything back. She said, “And you have seen how it yed out. Ever since she moved in, Faye has been knocking at our door every night. You could say she has valid reasons; she alwayses with one. But then again, why is it alwayste at night that she needs something from us?”<fnba39> Checktest chapters at ?ovelFind</fnba39>

Lucas said nothing. The truth was, he had also felt that Faye’s presence had seriously disrupted their normal life. Was that her n all along? To drive a wedge between Belinda and him?

The idea hung in his mind like a storm cloud. He frowned again, jaw tightening slightly as conflicted emotions churned.

Belinda nced at him and softened her voice. “Of course, this is only how I see it. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe Faye means no harm.”

Lucas offered no reply, but her earlier words had already settled deep in his mind, taking root.

After a while, he exhaled quietly. “Time to sleep.”

Belinda gave a small nod. “Alright.”

The following day, in the CEO’s office of Triumph Consortium, around noon, Faye went to Lucas’ office.

“Uncle Lucas,” Faye said as she stepped in, her voice teasing. “What is going on with you today? You actually called me up for lunch. Shouldn’t you be having a meal with Belinda? What happened to your sacred couple time?” She grinned at him, a yful glint in her eyes.

Once upon a time, Lucas might have chuckled at her words and brushed them off. It would not have registered as anything more than Faye’s usual quirk. But today, the words hit differently. They sounded off. There was a trace of bitterness and sarcasm in her tone.

Lucas’ eyes flickered. He pretended to sigh with resignation. “Faye, I have been thinking over the past few days. Maybe I really have changed how I’ve been treating you.”

Faye blinked, caught off guard. She quickly said, “It is not just a change; it is a total transformation! Uncle Lucas, you used to treat me like a princess. But now? Well…”
