?Chapter 1658:
The message indeed came from Elwood.
“Ms. Wright, how’s your mother doing? Is she recovering well?”
Reading the message, Kylee smiled faintly before she replied, “She had a high fever, but she’s much better now after treatment.”
“That’s a relief. Make sure to look after her.”
Kylee responded, “I will. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Wright.”
As she walked back to her room, Kylee’s mind raced with thoughts of how to tactfully raise the topic of the paternity test. So far, no wless strategy had emerged.
After all, she was dealing with the influential Wright family. She needed to tread carefully and n meticulously. A misstep could spark suspicion among the Wrights, and things on Car’s end would also change.
This caution was why she had held back from acting. Yet, watching Belinda’s bond with Car strengthen and her ties to the Wright family deepen, Kylee felt a growing unease. Her face clouded with worry as she pondered this. She wondered if Baker had devised any clever solutions.
When Belinda returned home, Lucas was still out. He had a business dinner that evening, so he didn’t return to join her for the meal.
After her shower, as Belinda stepped out of the bathroom, she saw the door swing open and Lucas stride in.
“You’re back,” Belinda said with a warm smile, approaching him.
She leaned in, sniffed lightly, and, detecting no alcohol, nodded approvingly.
“Don’t worry; I didn’t drink,” Lucas said with a grin.
Belinda replied, “Good. Now go take a shower.”
Lucasplied, heading to the bathroom. When he emerged, Belinda was already lying in bed. He slid under the covers and draped an arm around her shoulder.

Belinda nestled closer to him, resting her head against him.
“I’ve tasked someone with looking into Faye,” Lucas said suddenly, his low, gravelly voice breaking the silence.
Shocked by his words, Belinda sat up and turned to face him. Even though Faye was his niece, he still chose to stand by her. This touched Belinda deeply, though it also stirred a pang of guilt in her. She regretted keeping her suspicions from him earlier.
“If the investigation confirms Faye had a hand in your fall from the mountain, I promise I’ll make things right,” Lucas said solemnly.
“Okay,” Belinda said, keeping her response brief.
Lucas tightened his hold on her shoulder, his voice resolute. “Belinda, you can count on me. No matter what happens, I will always be on your side. No exceptions whatsoever.”
“I know. I trust you,” Belinda replied, nodding firmly.<fn16a5> Th?s chapter is updated by find~novel</fn16a5>
