Hostility in Hunderra
Ryleigh, is this your boyfriend?”
Ryleigh hadn’t even had a chance to say a word to Robin or Daphne before a tall, fashionably dressed young woman walked up from behind, nked by two young frien
of simr age.
This woman is Mabel Lovett, daughter of Ze Lovett, the Duchess of Hunderra
Apanying Mabel were two young men.
One was Donald, the son of the Maacks of Hunderra, one of Mabel’s admirers.
The other was Lucian, heir to another prominent Hunderra household, the Shelbys. He was also one of Mabel’s admirers.
Mabel, Donald, Lucian, and Ryleigh were all ssmates at the Academy of Netheris.
Lucian had always harbored feelings for Ryleigh.
He had returned to Hunderra for the ck Faith Order’s ceremony, where Xylon was being promoted to Peak Warrior. Lucian had hoped to ask Mabel to help him get closer to Ryleigh, maybe even bringing them together.
The moment he saw the admiration in Ryleigh’s eyes as she gazed at Robin, a surge of anger rose within him.
And with Mabel’s teasing words only fueling the fire, Lucian’s heart was already brimming with hostility toward Robin.
Ryleigh blushed furiously at Mabel’s sarcastic jab. Her secret feelings were suddenly bare, and panic surged in her chest.
“Mabel, stop joking around! This is the first time I’ve ever met Mr. Ramsey. He’s an honored guest in Gyro City.”
Mabel’s gaze swept over Robin with thinly veiled desire.
She had never seen such a striking man in the entire Netheris.
From the moment sheid eyes on him, she was already intrigued.
Mabel stepped forward with a yful smile and held out her hand. “Hey, handsome. I’m Mabel. My father’s the Duke of Hunderra. I’m here on behalf of Hunderra…”
Robin wasn’t interested in socializing with them. He had more pressing concerns, like finding where Shirley’s soul was imprisoned.
Since Varryn’s father once served as the Archmage of the Light Syndicate, he must know w Syndicate binds souls.

Mabel stepped forward to strike up a conversation, Still, Robin gave a detached nod and pulled Daphne along, walking past her without a word.
He left Mabel, Donald, and the others standing there, stunned.

The fiery light in Mabel’s eyes immediately cooled, reced by a sharp chill
She was the daughter of the Duke of Hunderra.
How could she be ignored by some penniless, insignificant mian?
“This was utterly uneptable!”
Donald had already felt ufortable watching Mabel approach Robin.
Seeing her snubbed and humiliated, he seized the chance to curry favor. “Mabel, I’ll drag that guy back and teach him manners!”
Ryleigh quickly stepped in. “Donald, calm down! If you cause a scene, things could get terrible.
Donald thumped his chest in bravado. “I advanced to high–tier warrior justst month. Beating someone like him would be a piece of cake! How dare he snub Mabel? I’ll teach him a lesson!”
But Ryleigh remembered wha,
ric had told her. Robin had effortlessly killed Evander and one of the ck Faith Order’s Guardians. The remaining three guardians were forced to kneel in submission.
If someone like Donald picked a fight, Robin might kill him on the spot without hesitation.
“Donald, don’t be reckless! Maybe they don’t like talking to strangers,” Ryleigh said, scrambling to find de- esction excuses.
Mabel curled her lips. “Forget it.
“Today’s a celebration of Xylon’s breakthrough. Let’s not make trouble.
“That guy’s just a nobody. What’s the big deal?
“Come on, let’s go shopping.”
Ryleigh and ric looked at Robin and Daphne’s retreating figures and then at Donald, who was trying to butter up Mabel.
ric muttered, “Good thing they didn’t try anything with those two. Otherwise, we’d probably be looking at three corpses right now.”
Ryleigh stared at Robin’s back, then nced at Daphne. Her heart felt heavy with disappointment and loss. “Ryleigh, what are you standing around for? Let’s go!” Mabel called out, pulling her over to Lucian’s side.
Robin and Daphne strolled past the market stalls.
They quickly noticed something strange.
Although the marketce was crowded, very few people were actually buying anything.
And those who did make purchases often came out of shops covered in bruises and cursing.
One man with a swollen face and a ck eye shouted angrily, “Damn it! That thing was worth two Netheris coins, and they charged me two hundred! Even pulled out some decree from the county office as proof!”

Chapter 1353 Hostility in Hunderra
A woman stormed out of a toy store with her hair a mess, clearly having been thrown our after a beating.
“Never repurchasing anything!”
“All the stores run by the county office are scams!”
“They forced me to pay 50 coins for a five–coin toy.”
“They said they developed it using the Duke’s ounting devices! Those devices are designed by master ountants, no mistake about it!”
Almost everyone they passed had some simrint.
“Mr. Ramsey, are these county–run stores really that shady?” Daphne asked, puzzled.
Robin chuckled. “This ce is discased. You can’t judge it by Earthend’s standards. Come on, it has nothing to do with us.”
They passed by a supermarket, its entrance grand and its décorvish.
Above the door, a sign read. Hunderra’s First Supermarket.
“Let’s grab some water,” Daphne suggested.
Robin and Daphne walked into the store.
The shelves were stocked with goods, and the prices seemed reasonable enough.
A bottle of water costs 20 Netheris coins.
Daphne grabbed two bottles and headed to the checkout.
The cashier was a young man.
“Excuse me, I’ll take two bottles of water,” Daphne said.
The young man smiled politely as she reached for 40 Netheris coins to pay.
“Please, just a moment, I’ll calcte your total.”
Daphne paused for a second, confused. “Each bottle is 20, so two bottles should be 40. Why do you need to calcte it?”
The cashier continued to smile patiently. “Please bear with me. It’s our policy. We’re a direct store of Hunderra’s Duchy, and all items must be calcted using the official ounting device issued by the Duchy.”
“Alright, go ahead,” Daphne said, understanding this was just part of the procedure. After all, it was a
government–run store.
The ounting device was a contraption that could directly disy numbers, simr to an Earthend
calctor.
The young man began working the device, calling the numbers, “Twenty plus twenty equals 10,000.

“10,000 Netheris coins.” He smiled brightly, giving them the total.
Daphne froze, hand still in the air with the 40 coins, and blinked. “Wait, how much?”
“Ten thousand Netheris coins,” the young man said, smiling professionally.
$8 Pearls.
Daphne thought the device must have malfunctioned, so she gently pointed it out, “Excuse me, but each bottle is 20, and two bottles should be 40, right? Did the calctor break?”
“But the device says 10,000 Netheris coins,” he responded, smiling politely.
“Please, don’t worry. Our ounting device is issued directly by Hunderra Duchy. It’s perfectly urate!”
“I’ll show you again, 20 plus 20 equals 10,000, right?”
Daphne couldn’t hold back augh.
“Oh my goodness! Does every device issued by the Rosha Duchy rip off customers like this?”
