"Lord Edmund!"
Wilbur felt touched to hear the words, but Edmund''s gaze was icy when he turned away. After all, Edmund would just have to send out an order if he wanted to sort this out.
Augheimer had drawn Dalton''s attention, but the past few days showed that the Dragon yer Organization did respect Edmund quite a bit. Thus, Edmund was certain that they would not do anything to him directly.
This meant that Edmund could actually save Augheimer. However, Edmund attained the City Lord position through his own power. He was certain that nothing big would happen in the next three months, and that would make his promise to Wilbur the most important thing.
Dividing and conquering Buck Town?
Edmund found the whole thing funnier the more he thought about it. What would he be, if he really let Wilbur run half of Buck Town? Would the cultivators of Buck Town even respect him anymore after that?
Besides, Edmund''s powers would be recovered in three months. He would be sure to send a new clone to the Reyne family, and in doing so be parting ways with a portion of his cultivation. Thus, Edmund did not want to draw any unnecessary attention.
The only way out now was to poke at the animosity shared between Wilbur and the Dragon yer Organization. This would not only divert the attention of the other cultivators in town but also make use of the Dragon yer Organization to kill Wilbur.
If this seeded, Edmund would have one less opponent to go up against. There had been many opponents who popped up in the past, with many of them being quite a powerful force.
Eventually, Edmund discovered a pattern. All the cultivators he used to trade benefits with as the City Lord were bound to lose themselves and end up seeing him as the enemy.
Considering this, Edmund could clearly see a future in which he and Wilbur would be enemies. Wilbur knew too much, but Edmund could not take Wilbur down himself. He had no choice but to use the Dragon yer Organization to do so.
Wilbur seemed overwhelmed with emotion, but Felix could easily tell Edmund''s intentions from his experience. Edmund was the City Lord of Buck Town, and there were at least a hundred people going in and out of the ce every day. Augheimer was just a regr cultivator, and Edmund was more than capable of helping him out without drawing too much attention.
Edmund was only saying this so that Wilbur would think he was a man of honor and generosity. His true intention was to use Wilbur to divert the focus of the cultivators.
Wilbur had mentioned to Felix before that after helping Edmund out, they would each rule half of Buck Town once Edmund hadpletely restored his health. Felix had not been particrly concerned to hear that then, but now, it seemed that Edmund had very different intentions.
"Thank you, Lord Edmund. I''ll go looking for Augheimer now. This time, I won''t let Dalton humiliate him again."
Wilbur got up to leave, and Felix came chasing after him.
Coming out of the City Lord quarters, Felix said, "Do you really believe Lord Edmund, Master? The way I see it, it''s not that Edmund can''t save Augheimer. He''s just not doing it on purpose to stoke your vengeance with the Dragon yer Organization. Edmund just wants you and Dalton to tear each other apart, so he gets to reap all the benefits on his own."
Wilbur stopped in his tracks after hearing those words. He fell silent for a while before turning back to Felix. "Even so, I''m not afraid. Augheimer is my only friend from Earth in the middle dimension, Senior Horne. I can''t bear to watch others harm him."
Wilbur stared at Felix solemnly, whose chest welled up with emotion after seeing Wilbur''s sincerity. Wilbur turned to leave, and Felix scrambled to run after him as he said, "Well, Master, we''ve got to at leaste up with a n or two if we''re going to save Augheimer. We might get ambushed if we just head over there like this."
