Chapter 2709

"What do you mean by that?" asked Wilbur.

Dino nced at Wilbur, bowing politely. "Our Patron Sivan received news that there was a dragon n cultivator''s aura detected in Buck Town. Despite not knowing why, Sivan probably assumed that the cultivator was hiding in the City Lord''s quarters, and you didn''t notice it because you were busy dealing with the town''s affairs. Hanson was also rewarded by the organization, and thus thought that he could break into your quarters without letting you know beforehand."

Dino paused for a moment, then continued, "Hanson''s actions were undoubtedly wrong, but he didn''t mean to offend you at all, Lord Edmund. More than that, he would have hated to make an enemy out of you because of this. That''s why Mister Dalton and I decided to give you the ck Jade Pearl as a gift of apology. We want to put an end to our misunderstanding and also get the chance to exin the situation to you. You can decide what you want to do with the dragon n cultivator yourself, Lord Edmund."

Despite Dino saying so, Wilbur and Edmund understood what he was implying at once. While the ck Jade Pearl was an apology gift, it was also a way of forcing Edmund to hand the dragon n cultivator over.

After all, it would not go over very well to turn down doing something for someone after epting a gift from them. Wilbur and Edmund were both pretty impressed at Dalton for this. He had de-escted a high-risk situation just like that. However, they still knew what all of this meant.

The vengeance between the Dragon yer Organization and the dragon n cultivators was not something that was going to be solved so easily, and Wilbur and Edmund were both thetter. Edmund would never hand Wilbur to Dalton and Dino over just like that.

Edmund would never have been able to hold the fort down for this long without Wilbur, on top of the help he had given Edmund before. There was no going back here.

Edmund could only put on a scowl, saying, "I''m truly grateful for the gift, Dino, but you made the same mistake Hanson made. If there really was a dragon n cultivator in the City Lord''s quarters, how would I not know about it? Hanson already crossed me once, are you trying to do it a second time?"

    "No, of course not!"

Edmund said, "Then leave with your gift, and this ends here. Before you leave, I''m going to say one more time that anyone else who breaks into my quarters again will be killed. Whether they''re from the Dragon yer Organization or not would not matter."

    "Oh..."

Dalton and Dino were taken aback by Edmund''s response. Wilbur closed the lid of the wooden box and handed it back to Dino. "Have a good day, sir."

The two men had no choice but to leave the quarters with the ck Jade Pearl. Dalton was furious as they walked out. "That bastard! I already apologized, didn''t I? How dare he turn me down!"

Dino, however, was oddly calm. "The way I see it, there''s more to this that we don''t know about. Botani has mastered the dark space essence, and he already battled Edmund before we got here. If he doesn''t show up, that means Edmund has killed him. Considering that... there''s definitely more to the identity of the dragon n cultivator than we initially thought, Mister Dalton."

Dalton nced at Dino. "Are you saying that Wilbur Penn might be the guy?"

"Precisely. I''m almost certain that he''s the dragon n cultivator. I just don''t know what secrets lie between him and Edmund for a City Lord to protect him from the Dragon yer Organization."

Dalton took a deep breath. "I heard that Lord George has beening to Buck Town to y chess with Lord Edmund quite a bit recently. The two of them seem pretty close, and George himself is a dragon n cultivator. Do you think he was the one who told Edmund to watch over Wilbur?"
