Was Esha out of her mind, making a request like that in a situation so dire?
Wilbur turned to look at her as well, a puzzled look on his face.
Esha took a deep breath. "We''re in Hemount City, and I''m the forensic technician assigned to work on this case. I have the right to know everything that happens involving this case."
"Esha Omah!" Mikael roared. "I''m suspending you of all your duties this very second. You''re going to write a review and a detailed report on everything that happened and wait for your punishment."
Esha was silent atst, ncing at Wilbur before turning to leave.
Wilbur shook his head, tossing the corpse of the ck bear into his demine before saying, "I''m going into the mountains to have a look. Don''t follow up on this. The case is out of your hands for now."
"Yes, we understand that. Thank you, Deacon Penn."
Both Mikael and Pembroke knew that once the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense was involved, they had nothing to do with the case anymore.
The department was bound to be alerted on a case like this, and it was best that they stay out of it now.
The fact that all these people had died was enough work for them.
Wilbur had broken out into a wild sprint, disappearing into the mountains and out of sight.
Pembroke and Mikael exchanged nces before beginning to bark out orders to clean up the scene and tend to the wounded.
Esha drove back alone, returning to her office in the forensic department.
She wasted no time, changing into field gear before inspecting her weapons and bringing a few more things with her, then drove out to the mountains Wilbur had headed into.
This was the first time Esha had witnessed something like this, and it had opened up a whole new world for her.
She was hellbent on seeing whaty out there in this world regardless of the consequences.
Wilbur raced along the roads leading up to the mountains.
Despite the fact that he could drive up here, this was much faster.
Wilbur expanded his spirit senses, trying to detect a simr aura to the bear.
There was a very faint wisp of it, and Wilbur followed it all the way to the top of a tall mountain.
The sun was high in the sky now, beating down on the mountain mercilessly.
Wilbur looked down at the mountains below him, bathed in this golden glow.
There seemed to be a fog hiding whaty beneath, but the aura of the ck bear was clearlying from it.
Upon making up his mind, he leaped downward without a moment''s hesitation.
Wilbur had to make sure where the bear hade from and rid the ce of whatever dangersy. Of course, it would be even better if he could get something out of it.
Not long after Wilbur had leaped down, Esha appeared on the top of the mountain.
She was drenched in sweat, looking as if she had been sshed by a bucket of water.
She was practically drained, despite the fact that she was one of the fittest members in her department.
Esha took a few deep breaths before whipping out her binocrs to look around.
The fog in the hills below was starting to clear under the sunlight.
A figure shed past in her binocrs, disappearing into the fog once more.
"There you are!" Esha shouted triumphantly. She put her binocrs away, beginning the treacherous trek down the mountain.
After Wilbur had leaped off the top of the mountain, he stood on the outskirts of the hills trying to scope the area out with his spirit sense.
