Chapter 1558

    "Okay. I''ll be right there."

Wilbur hung up the call and had the driver send him to the special forces headquarters.

Pembroke was waiting at the door. The two men exchanged a nce, and Pembroke led Wilbur to his office.

Shane was sitting inside. He shook Wilbur''s hand and got straight to the point. "Clive won''t talk, and Landhor''s pulled a connection from the higher-ups in Northseecher. We''re in a bit of a pickle."

    "What''s the problem?" asked Wilbur.

Shane frowned. "They''re not saying anything. All I''ve gotten from Landhor is a single name and nothing else. Landhor''s a state official and the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection has gotten involved, but that''s about it. We can''t do anything to him."

"Who''s the connection from Northseecher that he pulled? How powerful is this higher-up to put you in such a tough position?" asked Wilbur.

Shane let out a sigh. "Kamal Grayson."

    "Huh. What does he do?"

"He''s the Deputy Minister of Commerce," said Shane.

Wilbur frowned. "That''s it? That''s what''s gotten your panties in a knot?"

"It''s not that simple. Kamal''s the nephew of Benjamin Grayson. I''m sure you know of him?" said Shane.

Wilburughed. "I know him all too well."

"Well, I''m sure you know that Mister Grayson''s the real hero of Dasha. Even the most powerful people in the country have to pay their respects to him, and his pupils are all people in high ces. Kamal is his own nephew, and we''re going to be in trouble with Kamal if we dare do a thing to Landhor, which will definitely alert Mister Grayson as well. We really can''t afford for that to happen," said Shane.

    Wilbur nodded sympathetically.

Benjamin had practically brought Dasha to glory and held immense power in terms of reputation and status in all of Dasha.

Anyone who wanted to mess with his nephew would have to at least reconsider that much.

Shane was ballsy enough to even bring the matter up with Wilbur. Anyone else would have given up at the mention of Benjamin already.

Wilbur knew, however, that Benjamin was never the kind to cover for his own family members this way.

He got to his feet. "It''s no trouble at all. Take me to Landhor now, I''ll make him give up for good."

"Really? Are you sure about that?" Shane and Pembroke were overwhelmed with emotion at once.

It was important to note that there was a huge risk that came with doing something like this, even for a member of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense.

All Shane and Pembroke could do was pray that Wilbur would say yes, only for him to do so without any hesitation.

Wilbur smiled. "Do I look like I would lie to you? Just sit back and get ready for a show."

    "Let''s go."

Shane wasted no time, making a beeline for Landhor''s cell with Pembroke and Wilbur.

Over in the holding cell, Landhory on his bed humming a leisurely tune looking nothing but carefree.

Wilbur and the others came in, and Landhor nced at them before sitting up slowly with a smile. "Back so soon, Secretary Kowalt?"

Shane and Pembroke said nothing, sitting down at the table. Landhor stretched and cracked a yawn, before heading over to the table.

"You''re pretty great, huh?" Wilbur got straight to the point.

Landhor scoffed. "I don''t know who you are, but I''d think twice about messing with me if I were you. I''m sure you don''t want Kamal Grayson and his uncle to know about this."

This was an obvious threat, and Kamal was hisst and most powerful resort.

If Shane and the others did not dare to mess with Kamal, Landhor would get off scot-free.

Wilbur, however, smirked. "Do you really think I''d be scared of Kamal Grayson?"

"Right. I dare you to do it." Landhor hardly believed Wilbur smirking as he nced at him.
