Wilburughed and said to Pembroke, "It looks like your team doesn''t like to listen."
Pembroke''s expression soured as he said nothing.
"Quit the nonsense! Arrest him right now!"
At the same time, Wilbur also shouted, "Pembroke, Imand you to take Clive down immediately."
"How dare you! On what authority?" Clive roared.
Pembroke sneered and said, "Guys, take Clive down."
Without hesitation, two special agents standing behind Pembroke acted swiftly.
One of them snatched Clive''s pistol, while the other quickly tackled him to the ground, pinning him down so tightly that he would not move.
The group of special agents was bewildered, and the Nees family as well as the big shots were even more so.
That was just iprehensible.
"What are you doing, Pembroke? Have you gone mad? I''m the deputymander, and I''m executing the mayor''s orders!" Clive struggled.
However, Pembroke coldly said, "Someone will exin the matter to Mayor Lorne, but right now, I''m temporarily detaining you for obstructing the work of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense. As for what will happen to you after that, it will be up to them."
The Department of Paranormal Research and Defense?
Practically everyone heard that name, but they were all still utterly puzzled.
That was because no one understood what kind of department it was, yet it was so powerful that it had authority over Pembroke.
Clive grew even more furious. "What kind of nonsense are you talking about? I''ve never even heard of them before. Pembroke, you''re viting thew here. Just wait to be judged!"
"You don''t have to worry about that," Pembroke said calmly.
Then, two of the special agents dragged Clive up and cuffed him.
They were part of Pembroke''s security detail and only obeyed Pembroke''s orders.
Wilbur snorted coldly, "Pembroke, take him back and detain him for now. The department will let you know how to handle him."
"Yes, sir," Clive responded, personally escorting Clive to the car.
In the car, Pembroke looked at Clive and said slowly, "Don''t think I''m ignorant about your collusion with Landhor or the despicable things you''ve done together. Do you really think we''re all ignorant of that?"
"You... You''re doomed, Pembroke. Your future and fate are all in Mayor Lorne''s hands now!" Clive shouted.
Pembroke smiled confidently and said, "That''s not necessarily true now. You''ve provoked the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense. Landhor won''t even be able to protect himself, let alone you. Just wait. It''s about time we brought some justice back to Hemount City."
Watching Pembroke''s expression, Clive gradually fell silent, feeling uneasy.
After all the special agents withdrew, especially after capturing their own deputymander, everyone there waspletely speechless. They merely looked at Wilbur, stunned.
Wilbur smiled and said, "Mister Nees, didn''t you say you wanted to have a good drink with everyone? How are the preparations going?"
"Huh?" Warner quickly said, "Please,e in, everyone. It''s almost ready."
With a mix of admiration and confusion, everyone entered Nees Manor.
Before long, the banquet started, and everyone toasted Wilbur, expressing their utmost respect.
As for Wilbur''s true identity and why the special agents were arresting their own people, everyone remained tight-lipped and avoided the topic altogether.
The people there were no fools. They knew not to ask things that should not be known. Otherwise, it would only bring trouble or disaster to them.
For the moment, all they needed to know was that Wilbur was a very powerful figure.
Under the influence of alcohol, the atmosphere at the banquet quickly reached its peak, withughter and chatter filling the hall.
At the headquarters of the special agents, Pembroke brought the team back and detained Clive before returning to his office.
Sitting at his desk, he pondered for a moment before making a call.
