Frank was not only the smart guy out there in the whole right world. In other
words, Mr. Creston had that in mind too!
He was helping because he had felt insulted after Frank flexed on him earlier, and
Dani was still useful to him-for now.
When she handed over thepany, however, he would not hesitate to kick her
out! On top of that, he would make sure that she took the fall for all the dirty deeds
they did together.
In the end, she would not even be able to defend herself, while sufferingwsuits
and public condemnation!
Even so, she said, "I understand now. But it''s never toote-I swear I''ll change if
you give me a chance!"
Frank simply turned to Zein. "Actually, this man had the right idea-if he gave you
a chance, who would give him one?
"We''re all adults here, so act your age. I''m sure you understand how a good
opinion, once lost, is lost forever."
"I get it!" Dani quickly said. "You don''t have to keep me around, just-"
"No!" Frank snapped and crushed her left hand under his foot.
The terrible agony left her screaming, and she almost passed out.
Still, Dani resorted to using thew, seeing that they were refusing to spare her. "I-
I only made some mistakes, but I never killed anyone! The police can arrest me,
but none of you has that right!"
While those three might refuse to listen, they were still good people at heart, and
that meant they were always more reasonable than viins.
She might die anyway, so she had to try even if it was just a theory.
However, Frank red at her icily as he snapped sternly, "Quit embarrassing
yourself. It''s not that you didn''t kill anyone-you just haven''t done it yet!
"If I''d lost earlier, forget Drunken
Moon-you would''ve torture your
ex-husband to death even though he
has been so kind to you! Eliminating
you is the only way to spare myself
from further trouble!"
Finally knowing that she had no way out and that she had no chance of escaping
Frank, Dani still wanted to try!
When Frank turned away, she forced herself to her feet despite her pain and
sprinted for the door.
However, she barely moved a couple of paces when a mysterious force floored
her, pinning her down and keeping her from moving at all!
"No, I don''t wanna die... I have so much to live for! You can''t do this to me!"
No matter how Dani screamed, she simply could not invoke Frank''s conscience.
It was thirty minutes before the screams stopped and silence returned.
Drunken Moon strode up to the
corpse, spitting at it. "Well, that''s for
biting the hand that fed you. I guess
you''d understand the definition of
"You weren''t holding back earlier." Frank chuckled. "Still haven''t had enough?"
"There''s no limit to grief," Drunken Moon replied. "People like her are why women
get a bad rap these days."
Frank smiled and nodded-it was true that while Drunken Moon was a priestess,
she was a woman too and had her own considerations.
Still, he joked, "In that case, you should say that it''s better to have a baby girl than
a boy."
Drunken Moon smiled, shaking his
head. "I would agree with that, but
the reality is that gender doesn''t
decidepetence or personality.
There''s good and bad on both sides,
and all we can do is do our best to
eliminate the bad apples."
