Chapter 4


    School had closed and I was waiting for daddy toe and pick me up. He came but the car scent


    wasn''t nice anymore. It was a mixture of ciggarate and alcohol. We drove off but we didn''t take the


    road which led to our house.


    "Daddy, where are we going?" I asked confused.


    "Baby, am taking you somewhere that is going to be very fun for you and also me"


    "Really?!!!" I said excitedly.


    "Yes. Now sit down and hold on. We are going to have a lot of Fun especially you". I was so happy. I


    and daddy are going to have fun. Its being long since we did something fun together.


    It was a dark alley we went to but then I didn''t see any fun ce so I was confused.


    "Daddy, I thought we were going to have fun?" I asked.


    "Yes baby, we are. Now, get down from the Car so I can carry you" daddy never carried me but I was


    happy we were going to have fun. We entered the dark ce. There was only a dim light which made


    the ce a little bright and there was also a bed and I became more confused. When I turned to ask


    daddy what we were doing here, I saw him taking off his trousers and removing his shirt and I became


    scared.


    "Daddy, why are you removing your clothes. I thought we were going to have fun."


    "Yes baby and this is the fun". He pushed me forcefully to the bed and started touching me in ces I


    didn''t like.


    "Daddy, what are you doing?. Get off me!" I said and tried to get out of his grip but then he pinned me


    harder to the bed and put his lips on mine. I was so scared. He took my first kiss. My father was my first


    kiss.


    "Daddy, stop!!!"


    "Baby, we''ll soon be having fun"


    "Someone help!!!" I screamed


    "Oh baby, at this side of the town, no one will hear your screams so just shut up before I loose my


    temper. Now, let''s continue." He was about to kiss me again when I spat on him.


    "Tsk tsk. You shouldn''t have done that. Now, am angry with you and you deserve a punishment for that"


    he pped me and kicked me and beat me up till I almost passed out.


    "Now we''re done for today. You know you can''t tell anyone about this. Not even your mummy cause if


    you do, I will kill you. If they ever catch me. your mine baby. Your mine. you can''t ever love someone


    because I''ll kill him and I''ll kill you baby. I''ll kil-" I woke up panting. It was all just a dream Emilia. He''s


    no more around. He can''t hurt you anymore. Your safe. I got out of bed and checked the time. It was


    6:30 in the morning and I still had time before I left for work. I decided to go out for a run but I had to be


    careful so I wore my wig and lenses cause you never know.


    I allowed the fresh breeze to touch me as I ran and I didn''t know when I hit a wall. Gosh, I am so


    clumsy. I was creeped out because the wall had legs and so I looked up to see if it was a magic wall


    and the world had turned into a dark magic realm but then it was worse. He was standing in front of me


    looking irritated but soon it turned to a look of recognition and confusion.


    "Miss Emily?" he said.


    "Good morning sir" I said.


    "Oh, I forgot to tell you my name. am your boss. My name is Scott Ryder, CEO of Ryder enterprises as


    you already know" oh god, I missed his voice. I missed it so damn much. Does he have to punish me


    more?.


    "Miss Emily, are you okay?" I started feeling dizzy. I fainted but before I weed the darkness, a pair


    of strong arms caught me.


    "Miss Emily!, Miss Emily!" And I weed the darkness.

    I opened my eyes and saw a bright light, I immediately closed it back. I just wish the pain would go


    away. I opened my eyes again and blinked few times trying to adjust to the light. The familiar scent of


    cinnamon and mint hit me. I missed it so much.


    "Miss Emily, are you okay?" He said. I looked at him and then the environment. It was the most


    expensive apartment I had ever seen. It could buy my apartment more than 10 times and still have


    enough money to buy another beautiful apartment that could buy mine up to 5times. Well, that''s


    ording to my imagination. The memories came back from when I bumped into him to when I fainted.


    My wig! I looked at my hair and saw it was still brte and I breathed out a sigh of relief.


    "Where am I?" I asked.


    "Your in my house" he said.


    "Why?"


    "Because I didn''t know your house and so I just brought you here" he said as a matter of fact.


    "Why didn''t you just take me to the hospital and leave me there. I could''ve known it was you." I told


    him.


    "Well, your wee" he said sarcastically. He continued


    "If you want to leave so badly, you can leave but I want you at thepany 8:30 am sharp. I hate

    "8:30 sharp" he walked to the door and opened it


    "You can leave now miss Emily" he said with a bitter smile. I left. God, he can be so annoying. I just


    recovered from passing out and now he''s telling me to be at thepany at the main time. I looked at


    my watch and saw it was 7:45 am. I was at the rich side in New York and I still didn''t know my way


    round. I hailed a taxi and told him the only address I knew which was my home address. Fortunately,


    he reached there 10 minutester. Looked like his apartment wasn''t that far from mine. I went up an-


    "Mia!!!" Beth screamed as she ran and hugged me. Her eyes brimmed with tears and then I knew she


    had been crying.


    "I have been wooking for you. Michelle cawd and said she wanted to talk to you but I couldn''t find you


    so she came over. I was wowid" oh my God, I left her alone at home.


    "I am so sorry Beth. Am so sorry. I went out for a run and then got lost on my way back" I lied. Couldn''t


    tell her what happened. She didn''t know him.


    "pls don''t ever diwappear again" she said.


    "I won''t Baby" I said. I looked up and saw Michelle giving me the most deadliest re I had ever seen


    in my life. If looks could kill, I would be six feet under by now.


    " Beth, why don''t you show mike your room?" Michelle said. They nodded and left.


    "You left a five year old child alone Mia" she said seriously.


    "I know but its not my fault. I bumped into him" she widened her eyes

    "Shit. Shit. Michelle, I got to get ready. I have to be at the office at 8:30 and right now I only have 10


    minutes. Could you please get Beth ready for school and take her" I said with a puppy dog face"


    "sure, sure, no problem. Now, go get ready." I grinned at her.


    "Your the best. Thanks. Love you" I told her. I rushed to the bathroom, took a shower and By the time I


    was done, it was 8:25 already. I really should get my name written in the Guinness world book of


    records. haha, yeah right. When I reached the office, it was 8:50 already. I really amte.


    "Miss Emily, you arete" he said which made me stop in my tracks as I tried to go to my office. I turned


    back to look at me. Damn, he''s really more sex-


    "Miss Emily. I said you arete" he cut me off.


    "Am sorry sir. Its just I had to get my little sist-"


    "I don''t care. I told you to be at the office by 8:30 and this is 8:50 right now. You are 20 minuteste. I


    don''t care about your sister. I bet she''s just aszy as you. Your so poor you don''t have money to buy

    "Shut up!!!. Shut up!!!". I was fed up. When did he be so heartless? when you left him my


    subconscious told me and I knew she was Right and then I did the most stupid thing ever. I started


    crying. I didn''t cry because he insulted me, I cried for leaving him. I cried for making him be a


    yer again. I cried for making the heartless man he is now.


    "You don''t know how it hurts . The way you insult me. Its not easy for us. We are also poor people, yes


    and that''s why I am working to get money okay?. I have to take care of my little sis-" I was cut off


    because of his attitude. He was trying tough. Oh my God. He is still bipr as he was.


    "Why are youughing?" I asked irritated.


    "Sorry for everything but your face is just too funny" He Said.

    "Your lenses. Its kind of remo-" he stopped talking and continued staring at me.

    "Your eyes, they''re violet" shit. He has seen my real eyes. I think it might have shifted when I was


    crying my eyes out and then in order to try and save my personality, I ran out of there but he kept


    calling"


    "Miss Emily! Please wait. Miss Emily!, Miss Emily!" He kept calling but I didn''t answer. I ran to the


    restroom and washed my face. I made sure to put my lenses well and then I went back freshly and then


    had to bump into him.


    "Oh my God, am so sorry sir" I said.


    "Its okay" he said. He continued


    "Uhm, are your eyes violet?" He asked.


    "No, they''re not. Maybe you didn''t see well" I lied nervously hoping he won''t see through the lie and


    fortunately, he didn''t.


    "Ok if you say so. We are having a staff meeting right now and we can go together well, that''s if your


    okay with it?" He said.


    "Yeah, no problem" I replied. we walked into the room and were weed with gasps from people


    because they saw us walking in together. I just rolled my eyes at them. Scott went up to the podium


    and started talking,


    "As you already know we are no about to seal the deal with the woods for the construction at the oil


    industry site and so in order for us to seal the deal, we are going to be having a masquerade dinner


    party which is next tomorrow. That is all for now. You''re dismissed" everyone left the to and went back


    to what they were doing and I was going to do the same but he stopped me


    "Wait Miss Emily" he said. I turned back and answered,


    "Yes sir?" I said.


    "Are you going to the masquerade dinner party?" He asked. I was going but not as Emily. Taylor had


    begged me toe and I said I would but not as Emily. I wasn''t really nning on going and it would


    be bad if I went to the party as Emily when I had already told Scott I won''t be going.


    "No sir. I can''te. I''m busy that day" I told him. An emotion of disappointment flickered through his


    eyes but it was gone as how it came.


    "Okay but you will be in the office early on Monday. I admit what I did today was not nice but to be


    honest, just because I let you go off the hook once, doesn''t mean I''ll continue. Understand?" He said


    and I replied,


    "Yes sir"


    "Good, now get back to work" he said and walked out of the room.
