Chapter 3 Job Interview


    "Hey Kendra , how are you doing? Where are you going? You look that you are going to apply a job,


    arent you? Kendras neighbor asked.


    " Yes, I think it is a right time for me to look for a job".Kendra said.


    "Oh, why dont you apply as a teacher in ournguage center?"Kendra''s neighbor suggested.


    "That is a great idea. Yes, I want to apply. Where is thatnguage center located?" Kendra asked.


    "Its so near here.We can escort you there if you wanted." Kendra''s neighbor said.


    "Sure, lets schedule it tomorrow morning perhaps. I really have to go now. I got interview today. See


    you tomorrow morning then."Kendra said.


    "Okay, See you tomorrow."Kendra''s neighbor said.


    Kendra was first time to look for a job. It was her first time to do things on her own without her parents


    control.


    "I would never let my parents to control my life again. Im not going to depend on them from this very


    moment up to the end of my life. I promise to myself." Kendra said to herself. Kendra was stepping now


    into a real world. The world she never even had any idea where it would bring her.


    Her journey had started from this. It was because of her dreams, goals and ambitions to finish her


    college. She never felt any fear but a start of her learning experience in all aspects of her life.


    "Next please..Ms. Kendra your turn for interview." staff said.


    "Me, oh okay!" Kendra said.


    " Hi, I am Ms. Brook the manager of this restaurant. How do you see yourself after 10 years?,


    interviewer asked.


    " ......"Kendra didnt answer the interviewer. She was speechless. She had no confidence to express


    herself.


    " Hello, if you are going to stay like this, you will see yourself in a dump area. You may go." Ms. Brook


    said.


    Kendra already expected that she failed in her first job interview. She never forgot what the interviewer


    said to her. She had to learn more about herself especially on her confidence but even she did not


    understand why she could not express herself well to the interviewer. She was totally shocked to


    herself.


    "What is wrong with me?I have to get a job." Kendra said to herself.

    Kendra remembered her neighborhood''s suggestion to apply in a Language Center.


    "Oh i must go there now,"Kendra said to herself.


    " Wait, Kendra where are you going?. Your grandfather is in the hospital. You have to go to the hospital


    now." Kendras mother insist.


    Kendra went to the hospital directly instead to thenguage center the she supposed to go.


    " How are you grandpa?" Kendra asked.


    Her grandfather hardly moved. He had a stroke. His body was paralized.


    " Ke...end...ra," Kendras granpa tried to say something until her grandfather fell asleep as well as


    Kendra.


    The next morning...


    " Kendra, wake up! you may go home to rest more,alright?" Kendra''s grandmother said.


    On her way home, she saw a big building with anguage center written on it.


    "Oh,oh!...driver, could you please pull over? kendra said to the taxi driver.


    Inside the building,


    "Next please..Ms. Kendra," staff said.


    " Yes, I am Kendra." Kendra said.


    "You will have your interview in 3 minutes with Mr. Jong so be ready" , staff said.


    Kendra checked her bag if she had her resume with her. Luckily, she got thest one.


    "Your name is Ms. Kendra?, Hi how are you? I am Mr. Jong. Have a seat." Mr. Jong said.


    "I am Kendra, Nice to meet you." Kendra said.


    " So Kendra, Can you speak english with an american ent?" , Mr. Jong asked.


    " Oh, yes! Actually, englishnguage is implemented in our campus and we totally speak fluently like


    americans." Kendra said confidently.


    Mr. Jong suddenlyughed at her and asked....


    " When do you want to start?"


    " Anytime?! ", Kendra said.


    " Okay, you may start now!", Mr. Jong said.


    " Wait a minute, can I juste back here and start in the afternoon Mr. Jong?I was in the hospital


    before I came here and I havent taken my bathe yet." Kendra said.


    Mr. Jong smiled and said.."Okay, you may but be sure to be here in the afternoon."


    " Thank you," Kendra said.


    After that interview, she felt so good as she was so excited to start her job.


    " This is what i have been waiting for," Kendra said to herself.
