Chapter 2 Independency


    Kendra turned 18 years old. She was in third year college. Although she had some few friends at


    school but still she preferred to be alone. Kendra''s world was only school and home. One day


    afternoon, the phone rang.


    " Hello, who is this?", Kendra answered.


    " Is this Kendra?" Hi, this is Daniel. I got your number from a friend. Can we be friends? ", Daniel said


    on the phone.


    Kendra was so suprised. She could not imagine that the voice of the guy on the phone was so


    handsome as she could not exin as well the connection she had for him.


    " Sure, it is my firstime to have a friend on phone", she smiled.


    As they continued to be friends on the phone, they became so close and both totally enjoyed talking


    each other thatsted till they went to sleep.


    "What kind of song is that?", she giggled.


    " A song for you thatst forever", Daniel said.


    "Where did you get that line?", sheughed out loud.


    They continued talking on the phone almost everday until both fell asleep. Three months had passed,


    both decided to meet in person.


    She suddenly asked herself, " I liked him a lot. He makes meugh. I truly love talking with Daniel.


    What if his face looks like theces of my shoes? What is the feeling when i meet him in person? Does


    it feel the same?


    Kendra was so ignorant when it came into rtionship or feelings because she herself had not


    experienced how it truly felt like. She never felt it to her parents and she grew up feeling alone, sad and


    weak. She never felt true joy at home as she only saw her parents fightings,and drama.


    " Hello, Kendra I am going to your house now to meet you in person. I brought some pizza. Atst, I


    can see and touch you in person", Daniel said.


    "I am so excited to see you", Kendra said.


    The night time came..


    " Kendra, I am here now at the front gate of your vige", Daniel said.


    " I aming. Just wait me there for a few minutes", Kendra said.


    The two met in person.


    " Oh my god, I never expect that you look so handsome and thank you for the pizza", Kendra said.


    " I also wanted to give you this a rose , bracelet and picture of mine so that you wont forget me at all",


    Daniel said.


    " It is so lovely. You are so sweet Daniel." Kendra said.


    Daniel got to close his face to Kendras face. Both lips were


    too close and kiss each other.


    While Kendra kissing Daniel, she felt nothing. She felt just kissing a brother or friend. Kendra asked


    herself, "Why is it like that? I could not feel anything while kissing him. I should feel happy and enjoy

    She agreed to be in a rtionship with Daniel eventhough she never had true feelings for him. They


    kept their rtionship as they could.


    " Who is that guy?" Kendra''s father angrily asked.


    " He is just a friend father." Kendra said


    " I dont believe you. You must break up with him as soon as possible", Kendras father said.


    Kendra just ignored her father. She continued having a secret rtionship with Daniel.


    6 monthster...


    "Kendra I wanted to break up with you", Daniel said.


    "What is wrong?Why are you breaking up with me?", Kendra said.


    "It is just i got a lot of problems facing right now and I needed a space", Daniel said.


    "I dont believe in you. Is there someone other than me?," Kendra asked


    "No, there is no one. You have been a good girlfriend for me. I am sorry."Daniel said.


    "Dont call me ever again." Kendra said angrily.


    She hanged up the phone after that. Kendra was feeling bad for the break up. She didnt have true


    feelings for him but she could not understand also why she felt bad. She grew up being conceited


    seeing the world as bad it was.


    She forgot Daniel easily. She just focused on her studies. She spent her time studying seriously than


    hanging out with her ssmates.


    Daniel kept calling to Kendra but then she never listened to Daniel anymore and hanging up whenever


    Daniel called.


    One afternoon, Kendra''s mother came to her and said " Kendra, me and your father cannot able to pay


    your tuition fee anymore. You have to stop your college." When Kendra heard that to her mom, she


    was totally devastated as she could not ept that she stopped her college. Kendra did not take that.


    Kendra got mad at her parents but she could not do anything about it just to ept things so Kendra


    decided to be independent and start looking for a job.


    "I have dreams. I have to finish my college no matter what it takes. I got to find ways to get a job so that


    I can pay my tuition fee in college." Kendra said to herself.


    Eventhough her parents were too controlling and strict, Kendra decided to be independent." I will never


    ever depend to my parents ever again and i have to take actions right now. I will finish my college with


    an award. My parents will be proud of me." Kendra said to herself.
