Chapter 17 Keep On ying Your Role Well
She picked up the call while walking.
"Where are you?"
"I''ll soon be home."
"Is there anyone at home?"
"I guess no."
"Open the door for me five minutester."
Suddenly, the call was cut off.
Feeling stunned for two seconds, Gwenyth checked the time on her phone before she quickened
her steps to run toward her neighborhood.
When she reached her house, the fridge was just delivered.
The delivery man was very enthusiastic. He even helped her carry the fridge into the house,
unwrapped it, and asked her to inspect it upon delivery.
The door was ajar.
When Edison arrived, he heard people talking in the house, so he raised his arm and push the old
security door open with a finger.
Gwenyth was smiling and expressing her gratitude toward the delivery man. Seeing that, Edison
raised his brows slightly.
It was the first time he saw such a defenseless smile on her face after meeting her again four years
later.
"I''ll go if there''s no problem."
When the delivery man turned around, he nearly knocked against Edison.
On the other hand, Edison stood straight and nced at him expressionlessly. The delivery man
then stepped to the side and walked around Edison.
"Is your family of three going to use such a small fridge?"
Edison kicked the door close and raised a light question.
"Well, it''s enough."
Her tone was very calm, and her smile was long gone. She was back to her usual aloof self while
facing him.
"Sit where you like."
"Where should I sit?"
Edison looked around. The sofa was of an old-fashioned style with a cloth covering it. Besides,
several clothes were thrown on it. It was slightly messy, and it was unknown whether the clothes
were clean or dirty.
The living room was particrly small, so the space was very cramped. There was even a vaguely
unpleasant smell in the air.
That smell attacked him with the air ventted between the rooms. So, he frowned deeply. "What
smell is this?"
Gwenyth made use of both of her arms to hug the fridge and slowly moved it toward the kitchen.
"I''m sorry. The weather is too hot, so the food turned bad. I''ll immediately throw it away."
Edison walked to a window further away from the kitchen and tried to breathe using both his nose
and mouth, facing outside.
That house was not only small but stuffy and hot.
His forehead was already sweating in the few minutes that he was there.
After she moved the fridge, she threw the rotten food into the dustbin and tied up the garbage bag
to get rid of it downstairs. When she came out of the kitchen, she saw him standing beside the
window and sizing up her home disdainfully.
She knew that her home was very shabby and it could never bepared with the grand house he
stayed at. Hence, she did not want to make things difficult for a rich heir who led a prince-like life.
She then suggested, "If you think this ce makes you ill at ease, we can talk outside."
"How can you survive in this kind of environment?"
Her gaze was calm. "Well, many people are just like me in this world. Some can''t even afford such a
shabby house. Mr. Yates, not everyone is born to a wealthy family like you."
"It''s too hot here."
"There''s a fan. Do you want me..."
"That''s fine."
He disliked the air and environment there. He felt that it was very dirty and smelly.
Therefore, he furrowed his brows and strode out of the house.

Gwenyth kept some distance from him for fear that he would smell the garbage in her hand. So, she
walked slowly behind him.
After Edison walked out of the residential building, he went straight into his ck car.
Gwenyth threw away the garbage and walked over to stand beside the car. She recalled Nancy
telling her that she smelled of sweat, so she refrained from getting into the car.
"What can I do for you?"
"Go to Nancy''s birthday party with me tonight."
"Oh," Nancy answered but she continued, "Miss Shandy came to me today. Her assistant found the
contract in my bag, so now she knows that you hired me with money."
Edison looked at her through the car window. However, he did not lower the window to prevent the
hot air from sneaking into the car.
Standing outside, Gwenyth could not see him, but she could hear him.
"Why did you bring the contract with you?"
"It''s my affair where I want to keep it."
She could not put the contract at home for fear of it being discovered by Urs or the creditors
might turn her home upside down if they came to her house.
It was safer to put it in her bag.
"What did she offer you?"
"Eight hundred thousand dors for me to pay for the breach of the contract."
"Did you take up her offer?"
"No, I didn''t."
"Why did you turn her down since you had a chance to retreat unscathed?"
Gwenyth did not hide her intention either. She exposed it directly.
"I want four hundred thousand dors instead of torturing myself and getting nothing in the end."
After a brief pause, he stated indifferently, "Keep on ying your role well if that''s the case."
"I know. Let me go upstairs to take a shower. Wait for me."
She was about to leave but the car window was lowered. Edison handed a rectangr box to her
as well as the clothes he bought for her before.
"You have thirty minutes."
She epted the box and clothes before she turned around and walked into the residential
building.
After showering and blowing her hair dry, she opened the box and found a pair of ck high heels
in it.
She picked a ck dress and put it on before she put on the high heels and smoothed her hair.
After applying light makeup, she grabbed her bag and went downstairs.
Edison was leaning against the back seat to rx with his eyes closed. When he heard the door
open, he opened his eyes and nced at Gwenyth, who got into the car.
She dressed up exquisitely. Even though she had very light makeup on, her innate temperament
was good. She would look stunning as long as she dressed herself up.
She was wearing a tube dress with her ck hair let loose on her shoulders. That simple ck
dress showed off the fairness of her skin even more.
He stared at her slim neck and felt somethingcking there, but it was ratherte to get some
jewelry now.
However, she would attract everyone''s attention as his femalepanion for Nancy''s birthday party
even if she wore no jewelry.
The ck car drove out of the neighborhood and headed toward a residential area in the prime area
of the city center.
Nancy''s birthday party was private, and she only invited the people who had good rtionships with
her in the industry as well as her friends. Of course, she did not forget to invite Edison to such an
important asion because she wanted to manipte that chance to coax him well.

For three years, he refused to touch her.
So, she had to sleep with him no matter what. It would be some kind of advantage for her.
"Nancy, did you break up with Mr. Yates?"
Reina held a ss of champagne and asked Nancy curiously.
"Of course not. Eddie said that he wants to marry me."
She smiled smugly. After learning that Edison did hire Gwenyth with money, she had nothing to
worry about.
Although many women coveted Edison, he never had any scandals with the other women. He was
never a yboy, and he rarely regarded any women seriously.
He was never in any rumors with the other women except her.
She was finally enlightened after she met Gwenyth today. Consequently, she was in a better mood.
Even if she got rid of Gwenyth, Edison would have hired another woman. Hence, she decided to let
things be.
Gwenyth was not on par with Nancy in terms of her family background and identity, so Nancy felt
that she did not have to take Gwenyth seriously.
She would fall into Edison''s trap if she was bothered by it.
Besides, she just wanted to see what other tricks he could pull.
