Chapter 16 She Can’t Suffer in Silence
Edison grabbed her fiercely and pulled her to him. With a wave of his hand, she fell onto the couch,
which made all the things in her hands fall to the floor.
She crawled up. Edison took out the medical kit from the cab and carried it over.
He pushed down on her shoulder with hisrge hand, forcing her to lie back.
As a result, she was forced to lie there. Then, she clutched the hem of her dress when she saw him
trying to lift it up.
"Give me the medical kit. I''ll do it."
"Don''t move. If you move, it''s a breach of the contract."
Edison''s attitude was firm, and his expression was extremely gloomy.
Hence, Gwenyth did not dare to move, but she still refused to let go of the hem of her dress.
Edison tried to pull her hand away, but she held on firmly.
"Get off."
"You asked me not to move."
Edison was furious. He leaned over and grabbed a pair of scissors from the medical kit. He then cut
arge hole in her bloodstained dress and tore off part of it.
When he noticed a cut less than an inch on her abdomen, he kept hisposure. After that, he
helped her to stop the bleeding and inspected her injury. The ss did not make a deep cut, so he
managed to stop the bleeding very fast.
After simply bandaging her injury, he put away the scissors, gauze, and other stuff. He did not get
up right away. He fixed his ck eyes on her face, ready to demand an exnation from her.
"I asked you to go but you vented your anger on my car, huh?"
Gwenyth was furious that he had cut her off and told her to get lost.
She had left all her money in her bag. She had no choice but to walk home without a penny. To
make matters worse, she was wearing high heels. It would take her two to three hours to walk home
from there.
"I''ll pay for the ss."
"Can you afford it?"
"How much is it?"
"Fourteen thousand dors."
Consequently, Gwenyth was rendered speechless.
She gaped in shock at the price of a car window. Seeing that, Edison stood up and restored the
medical kit to its original spot.
"You can sleep on the couch tonight."
Gwenyth then looked down at her dress which he had torn and grabbed a pillow to cover her
abdomen. She then asked him, "Do I still need to go to the horse farm tomorrow?"
"No, I''ll get a driver to give you a ride home in the morning."
Having said that, he strode away and went upstairs.
Gwenyth had a restless night and woke up early the next morning.
She went to the bathroom to wash her face and changed into her clothes. She grabbed her bag and
left quietly, not waiting for Edison to get her a driver.
She rode a subway to go to the fast food restaurant where she worked as a part-timer. After that,
she changed into her work uniform to start working.
After working past mealtime, she was starving. She bought a bowl of porridge and ate it in a corner.
A young woman opened the ss door and entered the restaurant.

The woman wore a ponytail and a slick professional suit. She looked around without ordering
anything and then fixed her gaze on Gwenyth.
Gwenyth had met that woman the night before. She was Este, Nancy''s assistant.
Gwenyth instinctively felt that Este was not there to eat. It was very likely that Este came for
her, so she bowed her head to eat her porridge.
Este walked straight to Gwenyth and greeted her in a rtively polite manner. "Miss Lovce,
hello."
Gwenyth looked up. "Hello, what can I do for you?"
"Nancy wants to talk to you."
"I have nothing to talk to Miss Shandy."
However, Este seemed not to have heard Gwenyth. She exined, "Nancy is in the car. Please
get in and talk to her."
"I''m working."
"There are no customers now."
Slight terror soon washed over Gwenyth. She had a bad impression of Nancy. She felt that Nancy
was an arrogant and bossy youngdy. When they were at loggerheads the first time, Nancy
pped her. Nancy even pressed her head into the sink the second time. What would Nancy do to
her this time?
"I''m sorry. I don''t want to see Miss Shandy."

hung up.
After that, two burly men came in.
They might be Nancy''s bodyguards.
When they saw Este, they quickly walked over.

Gwenyth had no way to resist as the two bodyguards grabbed her arms and lifted her. She was
nearly dragged out of the restaurant.
The other employees in the restaurant whispered to each other but no one dared to stop the
bodyguards.
She was dragged to a red sports car. Nancy was sitting in the car, and she was wearing fashionable
clothes and a pair ofrge sunsses. She went straight to the point and said, "Miss Lovce, I
want to make a deal with you."
"I have nothing to say to you."
Gwenyth tried to yank the car door open but it was locked.
"Be frank with me. How much did Eddie pay you? I''ll give you double."
Gwenyth kept some distance from Nancy. Suppressing her frustration, she uttered patiently, "Please
let me go. I''m still working."
"No."
"Miss Shandy, please don''t make things difficult for me."
Nancy chuckled and took off her sunsses, revealing her charming eyes. She looked out the
window and saw Este walking out of the restaurant with Gwenyth''s bag. Hence, Nancy lowered
the car window and suggested to Gwenyth, "Let''s talk somece else. I happen to have nothing to
do today. I''ll deign to eat with you."
At first, she wanted to take Gwenyth to a quiet ce to discuss the deal well. Este walked over
quickly and took out a contract from Gwenyth''s bag. "Please have a look at this."
Consequently, Gwenyth turned pale with fright. She wanted to snatch the contract, but the
bodyguard grabbed her extended hand.
After Nancy took the contract, she quickly flipped through it. "Humph! I knew he hired you with
money."
"Well, you know now. Give me back my contract and let me go."
"Are you in such urgent need of money? You gave yourself up to a strange man for 400 thousand
dors. You ate and chatted with him. You put up a show with him. You even let him touch you and
sleep with you. How despicable!"
"This is my affair. It has nothing to do with you."
"I''ll give you 800 thousand dors. Pay him the fine for the breach of the contract and get lost. How
does that sound?"

Edison took advantage of her, and Nancy took it all out on her. So, Gwenyth felt that she could not
suffer in silence and gain nothing in return.
"Do you feel like you get no money and your effort is to no avail?"
"Yes."
"I can only give you 800 thousand dors at most. You''re young, so you don''t have to implicate
yourself for this bit of money."
"Are you done?"
"Do consider my offer and tell me your answer after you''ve thought it through."
After that, Nancy looked at Este and ordered, "Give her my contact number." Este wrote it on a
strip of paper and stuffed it into Gwenyth''s bag.
Nancy then immediately asked the security guard to let Gwenyth go.
"By the way, you smell of sweat. Women should keep themselves clean."
Nancy''s words were full of sarcasm as she shot Gwenyth a disdainful gaze.
But Gwenyth got out of the car, ignoring Nancy.

Nancy then threw the contract out of the car.
Este then got into the car with the security guards before the car was quickly driven away.
Gwenyth picked up the contract on the ground and stuffed it into her bag. She then quickly returned
to the fast food restaurant.
After dwelling on it, she felt that she had to inform Edison about how Nancy went to her to make a
deal with her.
So, she called him during her lunch break, but no one picked up her call after it rang for a long
time.

She decided to tell him the next time they met.
