Debra led Gand into her room, and he panicked.
"I don''t think I should go in since Marion isn''t around," he said weakly.
Debra sat down on the sofa. "Only Marion and I know your secret. This room is soundproof and safe for private talks."
"O-Kay," Gand sighed in relief.
Debra cut straight to the point. "Actually, I''m curious. Did Fermine to Seamar City as well?"
"What? That''s impossible." Gand was shocked.
But then, he remembered the time he had been caught snooping around Debra''s meals. Cornered, he had lied and imed that Fermin liked her.
Fermin''s death was a closely guarded secret within the Eaton family. No one outside could know the truth. Even if Debra and Marion were his friends, he couldn''t reveal it.
Debra pressed, "Why not? How are you so sure?"
"He''s always busy with work, and his trips have been handled by me," Gand exined. "Why do you ask?"
Debra tossed an earpiece onto the table. "Remember this?"
"It''s a Bluetooth earpiece. What about it?"
"I picked it up from the bushes outside the Royal Grand Hotel."
"Is it expensive? Are you short of earpieces?"
"Are you really clueless or just pretending?"
"I don''t know."
"We went to the Royal Grand Hotel to save Liza together. Don''t you remember?"
"Me? Saving Liza? Stop joking. I jumped out of the window and knocked myself outst night. When I woke up, my head was spinning. Then went to the living room to find you, but by then, you hade back with Liza."
Debra wrinkled her brow, and Gand added seriously, "I''m telling the truth, I swear."
"It''s not that I don''t believe you," Debra said slowly, her tone
measured. "But if it wasn''t you, then
t have been Fermin et
it
"It can''t be him."
"Why? Why are you so sure? What if he came for a trip or something?"
"That''s just impossible."
Debra saw his innocent look and didn''t push further. "I''m not the type to dig deep. If you''re not an enemy can turn a blind eye to it. Everyone has their secrets, but you got close to us for a reason. And with the events at the Royal Grand Hotel yesterday, I have to tread carefully."
In the past, Gand hadn''t done anything extreme. He mostly just ate, drank, and snooped around to find out what she was eating.
