Jasper gazed into Remy''s frosty eyes. "What about you? How did you end up following Justin?"
Remy''s eyes were dark, like a bottomless abyss devoid of light. "To be frank, I have no idea."
Jasper frowned. "You don''t?"
"When I came to, I was lying in a special ward. It didn''t look like a hospital ward— more like a regr room with a really nice ambience. I couldn''t move a muscle. My entire body was connected to tubes, and I was in so much pain that it felt as if all the bones in my body had been shattered and reconstructed..."
Remy thought back to the ward that was filled with sunlight—the ce where he first met Justin. Theke outside the window was as clear as ss, and he could see the shadows of trees swaying back and forth.
Justin sat in his wheelchair by the window, backlit by the sun. He greeted Remy warmly. "Wonderful. You''re finally awake. All that hard work wasn''t wasted."
Over the next six months, Justin visited him almost daily. He talked with him, brought him delicious meals, and apanied him during his physiotherapy sessions.
Gradually, Remy came to trust Justin and Justin alone. His gratitude grew so overwhelming that he eventually became a useful weapon to Justin-someone who obeyed his everymand.
Now that Remy thought about it, he realized the tactic Justin used on him was the same one used on Sheryl. He feigned sincerity and kindness to win over their empty and broken souls.
Deep down, Jasper came to a realization after hearing Remy''s story. Looking back, it seemed that Damien had been the sole survivor of the ne crash.
He had been washed ashore somewhere by chance, and Justin happened to find him, save his life, and nurse him back to health.
However, Jasper refused to believe Justin had done so out of benevolence. Instead, Justin had probably discovered Damien''s identy That was why he extend a helping hand and kept Damien by his side. He had beenying out an borate scheme for a long time.
Damien, as a member of the Taylor family, could easily be used as a hostage to threaten Winston and Alyssa when necessary. Fortunately Damien came to his senses before that could happen and cut ties with Justin. Otherwise, the consequences would have been disastrous.
"You are the fifth scion of the Taylor family, Lyse''s fifth eldest brother. Your father is the chairman of KS Group, Winston Taylor, and your mother is Mr. Winston''s second wife, Mandy Lovce. You used to work as a flight captain for Sna Airways.
"Then, because of a hardware malfunction, your ne crashed into the ocean. All the passengers and cabin crew perished in the tragedy. As for you, you vanished without a trace afterward."
Jasper continued calmly, "I believe you''ve tried to investigate these things yourself many times, haven''t you?"
Slowly, Remy clenched his scarred
hands into trembling fists on his
knees. Indeed, he had investigated it many times. Yet hearing the truth from Jasper himself struck him differently. The emotions surging within him now were unlike anything he had felt before.
"Damien."
Jasper''s eyes softened slightly as he ced a hand on Remy''s shoulder and gave it
a firm pat. "You have been through so much, wandering out there for so many
years. You must be exhausted. Whatever it is, wee home."
