Gerald wasn’t against Hera pursuing a marriage alliance. Especially now, with the Avery Consortium at its most vulnerable, she needed all the support she could get to strengthen her position. This would make any potential threats think twice before attempting to strike, potentially causing them to remain dormant as they had before.
But then again, Gerald also remembered that Hera was supposed to be engaged to the Hendrix family’s sole heir. He hadn’t seen the kid in so long that he couldn’t even recall what he looked like anymore. Thest time he saw him was when Hera was very small, and the heir’s image in his mind was now vague. Additionally, that heir had a knack for concealing his information so well that even the Avery family couldn’t uncover any details about him.
All Gerald knew was that the Hendrix’s sole heir had flown overseas to take over and expand their business sessfully. However, he was unaware that the heir had since returned to the country, met with Hera numerous times, and that their rtionship had blossomed.
Gerald was somewhat skeptical about the Hendrix family. He knew they had their own enemies who were constantly watching for any opportunity to strike. This ongoing threat had been weakening the Hendrix family—a powerful family with a royal bloodline. If they allied with the Avery Consortium, they might inadvertently expose themselves to even greater danger, as their enemies could unite to target both families, increasing their chances of bringing them down and reaping double the reward.
That’s why Gerald was determined to secure multiple marriage alliances with other influential families that had potential for growth if given time and support. Initially, he hesitated to suggest this because he feared it would require Hera to make significant personal sacrifices. However, after thoroughly analyzing the intel he and his team had gathered, he realized just how dire their situation was. He understood that without taking decisive action soon, they would be in grave trouble.
But who would have thought that he and their Young Miss had been on the same wavelength all along? Gerald was genuinely pleased, which made him chuckle. If Hera knew what he was thinking, she would probably be taken aback. She had her own reasons for getting into thisplex rtionship, but is she realize Gerald’s insights were urate might lead her to acknowledge that his analysis of the Avery’s situation was indeed spot on.
The room fell into silence as both Hera and Gerald were deep in thought, each absorbed in their own analyses. Hera was also contemting Gerald’s suggestion about Rafael, unsure of how to broach the subject with him. She nced at her phone, hoping for a reply, but there was still no response from Rafael to thest message she had sent.
"Alright, I’ll figure out how to approach Rafael about this," Hera said, taking a deep breath topose herself. "We also need to remain cautious about the criminals behind these heinous acts. Have you determined if they’re part of a group, syndicate, or any organizedwork?" She spected that their audacity might be due to the backing of a powerful entity—either a syndicate or a coalition of influential individuals who use such operatives to handle their dirty work while maintaining a pristine public image.
"Yes, Young Miss! You’re absolutely right. My intel team has gathered information indicating that they are indeed part of a big syndicate. It seems these individuals are involved in more than just the crimes we’ve seen—there’s a strong possibility they’re also engaged in other illicit activities, such as smuggling weapons or drugs," Gerald said solemnly, his expression grim.
Hearing that her suspicions were correct, Hera felt a surge of anxiety. She knew that such individuals would stop at nothing to eliminate their enemies, resorting to extreme measures akin to those of terrorists if necessary. The realization that she had already ventured into such perilous territory made her feel deeply unsettled.
It also made Hera wonder how Minerva ended up entangled with such dangerous individuals. She knew Minerva was arrogant and not as intelligent as her brother, but she couldn’t fathom how Minerva could be so foolish as to get involved with them. Either Minerva was unaware of the danger she was dealing with or, more troublingly, she had lost her senses and was driven by a desperate need to ensure that no one could steal her man.
