Pain Teaches Silent Lessons — Arjun Malhotra 290

    290/292: Remember My Name

In the bedchamber where Kael was being kept, ra, one of the royal healers who had recently be part of the special elite group formed by the King and Queen called the Spiritual Guards, had been assigned to “ersonally watch over him.

She had just finished praying for his recovery when she moved to sit at the edge of the bed to check on him again.

His body was stable and unharmed, but he was still unconscious.

“You should fight it,” she told him softly. “The battle inside your mind. Don’t be deceived by the darkness.”

She couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. From what she had sensed earlier, she already had some idea of what had happened. She felt and smelled the dark entities trying to enter and take hold of Kael’s body. Spirits of envy, jealousy, and others connected to his lingering desire for the Queen.

“There’s no point in letting yourself fall into total destruction,” she continued with a quiet sigh. “Be d that the Queen is in good hands and is happy. You need to let go of your feelings for her and hold on to the good memories instead. Loving someone also means wishing for their happiness, even if it’s not with you.”

Then she studied his face more closely.

This was the first time she had seen him in person, but she had long heard about his reputation and the strength of his pack under his father’s leadership. Everyone knew Kael as a good man.

But he had fallen deeply in love with the wrong woman, and that love had slowly turned into obsession when he realized he could never have what he wanted.

“Maybe at first, it began with your desire to protect her, and there’s nothing wrong with that,” she continued, knowing Kael would somehow hear her in his subconscious mind. “Anyone would want to save and protect the person they love. But… you should also know when to stop, especially now that the Queen has already assured you that she’s no longer in danger and that she’s happy.”

She took a deep breath and sighed softly as she leaned a little closer before adding,

“You’re only making the Queen suffer by seeing you like this. Yesterday, I saw her crying again and again while she pleaded with you, even while you were unconscious, to move on. She told you she’s happy now, and she wants you to have a future and a happy life too, just like hers.”

“So please… when you wake up, try your best to keep your rational thoughts with you. Don’t let another dark entity enter your body and take hold of you. Because if that happens, you’ll only be a burden to the Queen in her happy life. Do you really want that?“.

Then she couldn’t help but blush as she stared at Kael’s handsome face.

“There are plenty of women out there,” she said softly. “Maybe… who knows? You might end up liking me when you wake up. I’m not bad–looking. I alsoe from a noble family. I could be a good choice.”

She hesitated for a moment before continuing, a little more shyly,

“Once you wake up, let’s try going out and see if we match, alright? Remember my name and look for me… ra Smith.”

Then she suddenly started huping. That always happened whenever she did something embarrassing. Still, she meant what she said. Kael’s appearance was exactly her type, and somehow she could tell he was a good man.

She swallowed as the realization sank in. It wouldn’t be easy to build a rtionship with someone whose heart

“But moving on doesn’t happen through time alone,” she muttered quietly to herself. “Time helps, but it can take too long. Maybe experiencing another kind of love will help him heal faster.”

Just then, she heard the door open.

She quickly stood up and turned, only to see that it was the Queen.

“Your Majesty,” she greeted respectfully with a polite bow.

“Is he still unconscious?” The queen quickly asked her as she stared at Kael.

ra, nodded, and Althea couldn’t help releasing a deep, frustrated sigh.

“Many demonic spirits are still hovering around the area,” ra reported. “I tried to drive them away as much as I could, but I can’t be certain what will happen once he wakes up. It will be up to him to reject and renounce them on his own. Otherwise, another entity may try totch onto him if he doesn’t close the doors he has opened to them.”

ra was gifted much like Althea. She could sense demonic and unclean spirits. However, unlike Althea, she could not see them clearly. But she could feel and smell their presence at most and describe the kind of demonic spirits nearby by their smell.

“You’re doing well, ra,” Althea said gently. “Just remain focused on obeying thew of God and keep your faith strong. We have been given authority to trample over darkness as long as we walk in righteousness.”

    The healer nodded respectfully.

“For now, continue monitoring Kael,” Althea added. “Have someone inform me the moment he wakes up.‘ ra smiled enthusiastically. After giving a few final instructions, Althea turned to leave. Gavriel was already waiting for her in the hallway, speaking quietly with Osman.

“How is he?” Gavriel asked on?e Osman stepped away.

“Still the same,” Althea replied softly. “I just hope he will bepletely freed from the darkness.”

Her gaze followed Osman as he walked down the corridor.

“He looked very eager to leave earlier,” she added with a small smile.

“Indeed,” Gavriel chuckled. “His smile nearly reached his ears while saying goodbye to me.”

Osman had been assigned to travel to the Kingdom of Velmora to deliver what Gavriel had promised as part of the peace agreement between their kingdoms. He would also assist Zander in his effort to unite the noble houses so Velmora could finally be ruled under a single crown.

Two houses had already dered their support for Zander. In fact, they were the ones who first proposed that he take the throne as King of Velmora.

However, the Houses of Aquyra and Pyrelith still opposed him, each wanting their own candidate to rule the continent.

Originally, Gavriel had nned to send Uriel for the mission. But Osman had personally requested to go instead, and Gavriel understood why. Candice.

So how could he refuse a loyal friend such a request?

Althea released a heavy sigh as her thoughts Wandered to Zander. Their kingdom had finally be peaceful after oveing the chaos, but the same could not be said for another continent like Velmora. She just hoped her cousin would aplish what he was destined to do in ordance with Heaven’s will.

“Do you think Zander will be fine?” she still asked.

“Velmora is ready for a king,” Gavriel said thoughtfully. “And Zander is the best candidate for it.”
