409 A Forgotten Encounter
Axel’s hand tightened around his cell phone as he asked, “I slept with her?” @
Liam’s foot nearly slipped off the elerator to hear those words.
The car wobbled for half a second before he regained control.
Axel’s head snapped forward slightly before he returned his attention to Collins on the phone.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Axel said, his voice sharp, cold, edged with shock. “I never even remember ever meeting her.”
The denial came too quickly.
Too forcefully.
Which only made the silence afterward feel suspiciously loud.
“How could I have a son with her?” Axel demanded.
Liam’s eyes widened. Of all the things he expected to hear during his workday, idental paternity scandals involving supermodels ranked impressively low on the list.
Collins hesitated. “Boss… I’m not really sure about it,” he admitted. “But Dn surely knows everything about it. I will ask him.”
Axel’s expression darkened instantly.
Dn.
Of course.
If there was anyone cursed with a disturbingly urate memory of Axel’s past romantic disasters, it was Dn.
Axel ended the call slowly. He stared ahead, his reflection faintly visible in the tinted ss.
His thoughts are now too busy to recall the faint memory of his life before he met Evelyn.
A supermodel.

409 A Forgotten Encounter
A forgotten encounter.
A possible child.
His irritation twisted into something heavier. More dangerous.
Because Axel Knight’s forgetting sleeping with a woman was not merely unusual. It was impossible. And he hated it when the impossibilities were disturbed.
Liam cleared his throat cautiously.
“…Boss?”
Axel did not look at him.
“Yes?”
“…Should I prepare for a DNA test detour, or are we pretending none of this is happening?”
Axel’s eyes shifted toward the driver.
Liam instantly regretted his existence.
Axel leaned back again, his voice calm, smooth, and deeply threatening. “Drive!”
Liam nodded rapidly.
“Yes, boss.” He pressed harder on the elerator.
“Boss, we’ve arrived…” Liam’s hoarse and hesitant voice cut through Axel’s thoughts just as the car rolled to a smooth stop.
Axel blinked, feeling a bit out of it, like his mind had drifted off somewhere else for a bit.
He adjusted his coat casually before stepping out, but the moment his gaze lifted, everything else lost significance.
Evelyn stood just beyond the door.
The exhaustion that had been weighing on him throughout the drive home loosened instantly, dissolving under the warmth of her smile.
There was always something disarmingly calming about her presence, something that quietly rearranged the chaos inside him without effort or demand.

The soft glow in her eyes, the familiarity of her posture, and the subtle curve of her lipsbined into a sight that grounded him more effectively than any strategy or logic ever could.
Without hesitation, Axel closed the distance between them.
He reached her in two long strides and pulled her tightly into his arms, wrapping her in an embrace that carried far more intensity than usual.
He buried his face in her hair, inhaling deeply, letting her scent wash over him with afort that felt dangerously addictive.
In that moment, he needed her warmth, her presence, and the silent reassurance that she alone seemed capable of providing.
However, the embrace lingered.
And tightened.
Evelyn’s brows gradually knitted together as confusion reced her initial surprise. Axel’s arms were firm, almost possessive, and his breathing felt heavier than normal. Something about the way he held her did not align with the usual rhythm of their
reunions.
“Axel, is there something bugging your mind?” she asked softly, her voice filled with concern as her hands pressed lightly against his chest.
The sound of her voice seemed to pull him back.
Axel exhaled quietly and opened his eyes, though he did not immediately meet her
gaze.
Instead, he pressed a gentle kiss against her hair, lingering there for a brief second before reluctantly loosening his hold.
“No. Nothing. I just…” he began, but the words slowly faded as if something pulled them back into his stomach.
Evelyn gently pushed herself free, not with resistance but with careful curiosity.
When their eyes finally met, Axel’s expression had already smoothed into its usual calmness, the tension reced by that familiar, effortless charm he wore like second skin.
“I’m fine. Really. I just realized how much I miss you,” he said, his smile warm and

convincing.
Evelyn studied him for a moment, searching for something beneath the surface, but hisposure appeared intact.
Eventually, she sighed softly and ced her palm against his chest, her touch both affectionate and grounding.
“Alright,” she murmured with a faint smile. “Let’s get inside… It’s freezing out here.”
Axel nodded and took her hand, squeezing it gently as they stepped into the house together.
Almost immediately, Axel sensed the unusual quietness that filled the space.
The absence of Oliver’s energetic presence was noticeable, as the house felt strangely still without the familiar sounds of tiny footsteps and enthusiastic chatter.
He slowed near the living room and turned toward Evelyn, curiosity softening his
features.
“Where’s our little boss?” He asked curiously.
Evelyn’s lips curved into an amused smile.
“After waking up from his nap, he immediately ran to Aunt Martha’s room,” she exined. “I believe he has umted an impressive number of stories, and Aunt Martha is now his captive audience.”
Axel can’t help but chuckle, imagining Oliver’s animated storytelling and Martha’s indulgent patience. The mental image eased something inside him, briefly recing the lingering unease from earlier.
“I see,” he replied, his tone noticeably lighter as they walked toward their bedroom. “Mr. Knight,” Evelyn continued yfully, gently tugging his hand, “you should change and rest before dinner. You look like someone who has spent the entire day intimidating people.”
Axel arched his brow. “Only today?”
Evelynughed quietly. “Especially today.”
Momentster, she helped remove his coat and shirt before Axel disappeared into the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Evelyn moved with quiet familiarity. She took care his coat before turning her attention to his shirt, smoothing the fabric with tenderness.
These little gestures had just kind of be her way of showing she cared, flowing naturally into their everyday routine.
However, as she was about to hang the coat, a vibration startled her.
Axel’s phone buzzed inside the pocket.
