Chapter 431

All the memories tangled together, weaving a tight around him until he could hardly breathe. Atst, he lifted his head. The panic and resistance in his eyes faded away, reced by exhaustion and a kind of quiet determination.

He drew in a shaky breath. His voice was rough, but there was no hesitation. “I..... I''m ready to confess. I''ll tell you everything about what happened back then. All of it."

Thewyer looked relieved and quickly grabbed a pen and notepad. Bailey closed his eyes, like he was searching through the past or maybe just saying goodbye to it. After a moment, he opened them again and began to talk about the deal from twenty years ago.

"Twenty years back, I''d just moved to Bridger Lake. I was struggling to get my business going. Nathaniel came to me... said he had a way to make real money. It was illegal organ trafficking."

"The deals happened in an old warehouse on the west side of town. Nathaniel took care of finding the ''supplies'' and reaching out to buyers. I put up the money, found the ce, and handled any problems that showed up afterward."

"It wasn''t just us. There was a middleman everyone called Old Ghost. He worked for Nathaniel, connecting the suppliers and buyers. And there were a few doctors Nathaniel brought in from out of town. They did the surgeries."

Bailey fell into the details, his memory sharp. He listed the dates, the cash amounts, the people involved, what each person did. He held nothing back. Thewyer scribbled furiously, only stopping now and then to ask something important. Bailey answered every question.

Just as he was about to say who the key supplier was, he started coughing hard, like something was stuck in his throat. His face went pale, then his lips turned dark. Ale hunched over, clutching his chest, his breathing fast and shallow. His eyes lost their focus.

“Mr. Meyer!” Thewyer jumped up, trying to keep him steady.

"Something''s wrong!" one of the officers said, already stepping over to help. He checked Bailey''s pulse and his face went stiff. "Call a doctor! He''s having a heart attack!"

Another officer grabbed the phone and called for the medical team.

The whole room turned frantic. Thewyer kept calling Bailey''s name, while the officers tried to help however they could. Bailey slumped back in his chair, his senses fading. Everything around him sounded far away in his mind, he saw Marie''s gentle smile. He saw the way little Reese used to look at him, so full of trust. All he felt was regret and the ache of unfinished business.

The medics burst in with their gear, moving fast and calm. They started working on him right away—shocks, pressions, oxygen. Everything happened in a blur of motion.

Roman watched from the side, his brow deeply furrowed. This was bad. If Bailey didn''t make it, the truth about those old deals might nevere out.

Meanwhile, in the hospital''s ICU, Nathaniel, who had been unconscious for so long, suddenly opened his eyes.
