Chapter 303

After she hung up, Reese refreshed the page again just to be sure-nope, the hospital system showed the same result. She was about to call Bruce to figure out what was going on, but before she could even find his number in her contacts, Bailey''s name shed on her screen.

"Reese, you''ve really let me down. I can''t believe someone like you came from the Meyer family."

Reese let out a cold littleugh. So Bailey had seen the health report and was calling to throw usations at her.

"Sorry to disappoint, but since when did I count as a real member of the Meyer family?"

Her words only seemed to piss Bailey off more. His voice shot up. "Reese!"

"I''m warning you, you''re not getting a cent of your mother''s shares. I''m calling thewyer right now. You''ll be cut out for good!"

"Do whatever you want," Reese said, getting up and pouring herself a ss of water. "Just be ready to deal with the fallout.

"If I don''t get those shares, Vista Tech can forget about getting the civilian de contract!"

    "You-!"

Reese didn''t bother listening to the rest. She hung up, found Bruce''s number, and called. All she got was that t, robotic voice: "The number you''ve dialed is currently unavable."

She pressed her fingers to her temples, suddenly feeling exhausted and tense. Bruce was Matthew''s guy. If something weird was happening at the hospital, it had to be serious.

Who had the influence in Bridger Lake''s medical circles and also wanted to mess with her?

Only the Barnard family. Rosie''s family.

A chill flickered in Reese''s eyes. Dylon was locked up, and Tara and Rosie must

be desperate. This was their underhanded way of trying to split her from Sebastian, hoping she''d drop the charges against Dylon.

    Pathetic.

She didn''t need the Ratcliffs to handle them. Reese grabbed her phone and called George.

"George, where are we at with Dylon''s shorting of Ramos Corporation?"

"Ms. Meyer, Dylon''s already been arrested. The police are still investigating, but our evidence is airtight. Shouldn''t be long now."

"Good," Reese said, nodding, pleased. "I want you to stay on it. No settlements, no deals. He returns every cent he took, and he pays for what he did."

    "Understood, Ms. Meyer."

She hung up and had barely slipped her phone into her pocket when the doorbell rang.

She turned away from the sofa and headed for the door. Through the peephole, she saw a familiar figure waiting outside.

When she opened the door, Matthew stood there, his eyes searching her face, picking up on her tiredness but also the stubborn strength in her expression. He looked a little less tense as he spoke.

"You okay? Really?" His voice was gentle, but there was real concern there. Thest time Reese had been attacked online he''d shown up to find her wrists still marked with blood. He hadn''t forgotten.

“I''m fine,” Reese said with a small smile, stepping aside so he coulde in.

“Actually, you''re just in time. I can''t get through to Bruce."

    "That''s why I''m here." Matthew

pulled out his phone and opened his

chat with Bruce. The most recent

message was from three hours ago

    "Someone inside the hospital is

    looking into Ms. Meyer."

Matthew switched to a private group chat and showed her thetest post-a notice from a police ount.

"Bruce is being questioned at the hospital police office for allegedly sending medical data overseas.

"They''re setting him up," Matthew said, his expression dark. “Back when I got hurt on a mission, Bruce was the one who brought me back from the edge. I owe him everything."
