"These are the security camera feeds showing Ms. Meyer locking Reese in the
"Hold on." Sebastian''s eyes darkened as he watched Matthew step in to defend Reese. He pulled a sh drive from his pocket and handed it to her. "I''ve got my own evidence."
"As for Sofia convincing my son to hurt my wife, I heard it myself. My son told me, and Sofia admitted it.
"Hank, do you want to listen to the recording from that day?"
He barely nced at Sofia, who was already shaking like a leaf, and turned to Reese, his voice suddenly softer, almost gentle. "Use my evidence, Reese. I won''t let anyone hurt you again."
Matthew didn''t even look up as he plugged his sh drive into theptop. "Mine''s already set up for the projector. It''ll start right away. No dys."
"Reese, let''s watch mine first."
Their eyes met, and the tension in the room felt ready to explode.
Sebastian stood straight, one hand in his pocket, his whole posture radiating stubborn possessiveness. "Reese is my wife. I know what''s best for her."
"But this is about ckOak," Matthew replied, stepping slightly in front of Reese, his toneced with challenge. "She needs someone who can actually help her right now. Not a husband who only shows up when he wants to."
Reese''s fingers curled in herp as she looked from one man to the other. She could see the desperation in Sebastian''s eyes, as well as the fierce protectiveness in Matthew''s.
Compared to Sebastian, who always seemed just one step away from letting her go, she trusted Matthew more at this moment.
"No. I''m gonna use Matthew''s," she said quietly.
Sebastian''s hand froze in the air, the sh drive suddenly weighing a ton. He stared at the side of Reese''s face-the same face that used to look at him like he was her whole world. Now, all she saw was Matthew.
It felt like a shard of ice pierced his chest. His whole expression went cold, the air around him dropping a few degrees.
Matthew saw everything and a faint smile flickered across his lips. He plugged his drive into the projector and the screen sprang to life.
The footage started rolling.
Sofia appeared outside theb door, ncing up and down the hallway. She punched something into the control panel. The "lock" button lit up. The door
clicked shut. Then she reached over and turned off the venttion.
The view switched to inside. Reese was up against the wall, trying to make a call. Minutes ticked by. Her face got paler, her breathing faster and rougher. Each breath sounded painful in the end, she slid to the floor, scratching at the tiles, fighting to stay awake.
Hank''s eyes went wide. He stared at the screen, fists clenched so tight his knuckles went white, veins standing out across the back of his hands.
He turned to Sofia, voice shaking, barely above a whisper. "Sofia... why? Why would you do this?"
Sofia looked like she might faint on the spot. She was trembling all over, biting her lip until it nearly bled, but she forced her chin up. "It''s fake! Reese made it up! She''s just trying to frame me, acting pitiful as always Don''t believe her, Hank!"
Hank nced at Reese, confused, ready to ask her if it was true, when Matthew
let out a short, cold snort.
"Fake?"
He pulled a thick folder from his briefcase and dropped it on the table with a thud. "This is an official report from the city forensicb. It''s all here in ck and white. The footage is original. No edits, no tampering. The audio and video are both real."
