Chapter 754: Who did this to you, June?

Juniper stepped out of the manager’s cabin quietly and walked back to her desk, keeping her expressionposed despite everything that had just happened inside.
She had barely settled into her chair when Zaden leaned slightly toward her.
"He’s definitely taking credit for the report you prepared," he said under his breath.
Sarah nodded in agreement.
"Exactly. He was scolding you earlier, and now he’s presenting the same report like it’s his own," she added. "Why don’t you justin to the Director?"
Juniper let out a small, dry chuckle.
"You want me to start a war here?" she said. She shook her head slightly. "I just need to survive here for at least three months."
That was her only goal, for now. If it meant swallowing a few insults along the way, she would.
"Don’t give her ideas," Victor suddenly cut in from the other side. "She’s more than capable of destroying people like him."
His tone carried a sharp edge. "Victor, why don’t you just stay quiet?" Sarah snapped. "You’ve been acting like a bully all day. You can’t judge someone based on one incident."
Victor scoffed. "I’m not judging her," he said, though his gaze shifted pointedly toward Juniper.
That was enough to snap her patience. Juniper slowly stood up from her chair and turned to face him.
Her expression was calm, but her eyes were cold.
"If you’re so eager for me to use my connections at the pce," she said evenly, "I can start with you."
The room fell silent as everyone looked at her.
"Don’t bring my personal life into the workce again," she continued in an intimidating tone. "We’re here to do our jobs. So focus on that."
Victor’s jaw tightened, the muscles in his face twitching as if he was about to snap back at her. But before he could say a word, the cabin door opened.
One by one, the officials began stepping out.
The entire department straightened instantly. Everyone stood in ce, hands joined respectfully in front, maintainingplete silence as the senior authorities walked past.
Once they had exited the department, the manager followed them out briefly before returning momentster, his face noticeably brighter than before.
He walked back into his cabin with visible satisfaction, clearly pleased with how things had gone.
Juniper watched him through the ss window for a second.
’He just wants to keep harassing me by making me redo the same work again and again.’
Suppressing the thought, she lowered herself back into her chair.
Without saying another word, she resumed working, forcing herself to focus despite the annoyance.

By the time the office emptied out, Juniper was still at her desk.
She finally shut down her system, gathered her belongings, and stood up, rolling her shoulders slightly to ease the stiffness from hours of work.
As she stepped into the lobby, she booked a cab on her phone and began walking toward the main road to meet it. Wanting to reach quickly, she took a narrow alley, a shortcut she had used a few times before.
The alley was dimly lit. Juniper walked briskly, her focus on the road ahead. Just as she turned right, a hand suddenly mped over her mouth.
Her body mmed against the wall with brutal force. Her breath caught in her throat instantly.
The palm covering her mouth pressed against her nose as well, cutting off her airflow. Panic surged through her as she struggled to breathe, her hands instinctively trying to push the attacker away.
Before she could react properly, a sharp, searing pain shot through her arm.
A silver knife had been driven straight into her right hand. Juniper’s body jerked as a muffled cry escaped her throat, her strength faltering under the sudden, unbearable pain.
The attacker then disappeared before she could even see the face.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked at the knife driven straight into her palm. The silver had already started its work, making her vision blurry. The screams from her throat kepting, but no one appeared for her help.
Somehow, she pulled out the knife from her hand and threw it away. Fumbling her left hand inside the purse, she checked for a handkerchief and quickly pulled it out. With a trembling hand, she wrapped it around her wounded hand and finally came out of that dark alley.
However, her strength evaded her body and the next second, she fell to the floor, ying unconscious there.

Juniper’s eyes drifted open to the faint beep of a heart monitor.
"June!"
A familiar voice called out as if she were underwater. She squeezed her eyes shut again, a sharp, throbbing pain radiating from her hand and snaking up her arm.
"Doctor, she’s awake, but she isn’t responding," the voice said, tinged with panic.
"Stay calm," aposed voice replied. "It’s likely the sedative we administered. It takes time to wear off."
"Thank God," Denzel whispered. He leaned closer, his chest tightening as he watched the lines of pain etched into Juniper’s face. To him, every moment of her suffering felt like an injustice.
After several minutes, the haze finally began to lift. Juniper opened her eyes again, the sterile white of the hospital rooming into focus.
"June, can you hear me?" Denzel asked with relief. He reached out, hovering just inches from her. "The doctor said you’re going to be okay. They’ve managed to flush the silver toxins from your system. It’s all out now."
Juniper tried to push herself up, her breath hitching, but Denzel’s hand was already on her shoulder, gently but firmly pressing her back into the pillows.
"Stay down," he insisted, his voice low and steady. "You need to rest until this IV bag is finished. Don’t push yourself."
Juniper sank back, her gaze flickering to the clear fluid dripping into the tube. "How did you find me?" she whispered.
"I came to check on you and found you unconscious," Denzel replied, his jaw tightening as he recalled the sight. He leaned in closer. "Who did this to you, June?"
"I don’t know," she said, her voice starting to tremble. "It happened so fast. Someone grabbed me from behind. I didn’t even see their face before they drove the knife into my palm."
