Chapter 963

She was covered with Bet''s jacket, and his familiar scent made her sleep incredibly peacefully.

When Yvonne woke up, she was no longer in the car but back at Cherry Bay, lying in her own familiar, fortable bed.

The room was dimly lit. Yvonne sat up, her mind still a little groggy.

Just then, the door opened and Emma walked in. Seeing Yvonne awake, she hurried to the bedside.

"You''re finally awake! Goodness, child, you''ve been asleep for two days and a night,” Emma said, touching Yvonne''s forehead. It felt cool, and herplexion looked rosy enough.

While Yvonne was sleeping, their private doctor had alreadye and examined her. Thankfully, there was nothing seriously wrong.

But Emma couldn''t help but lecture her. "You and Bet, neither of you gives me a moment''s peace. You just gave birth and you''re already pulling stunts like this. The weeks after giving birth are when your body is most fragile. You young people act like you''re invincible, but you need to rest if you don''t want to pay for itter. Catching criminals is the police''s job, why did you have to put yourself in such danger?"

Emma''s voice was still echoing in her ears, but Yvonne listened as obediently as a chastened child.

After she finished, Emma added, "You must be hungry after sleeping for so long. Helen has your recovery meals ready. Let''s get you something to eat."

"Okay," Yvonne said with a smile. She hadn''t realized she''d slept for so long and was indeed starving.

Emma wouldn''t let Yvonne get out of bed, so Helen brought the meal directly to the

    room.

After Yvonne finished eating, the maternity nurse brought the baby in.

The tiny, soft bundle smelled sweetly of milk. Holding her in her arms, Yvonne''s heart melted.

Coralie had just finished feeding and was now sleeping soundly and sweetly in her mother''s arms.

Yvonne held Coralie for a little while before the maternity nurse took her away, afraid that holding the baby for too long would tire Yvonne out.

Just as Emma and the others left, Bet came in.

"You''re finally awake,” Bet said, sitting by the bed and stroking Yvonne''s hair.

"I feel so much better after that sleep. Now that I''m not eating for two anymore, I feel light as a feather," Yvonne said.

    "The doctor already checked on you;

    ine

you''re fine. But you need to rest properly during your recovery period. No more being willful Bet instructed.

"Yes, I know," Yvonne nodded obediently, then eagerly asked, "How is the Walker case going? Mrs. Walker has been Vincent''s wife years she must know almost everything. With her arrested Vincent can''t escape.”

"Mrs. Walker hasn''t turned on Vincent yet However, with his wife involved in such a major crime, it''s enough to have him removed from his position. Once he''s stripped of

his official duties, it will be ov

impossible for him to cause any more trouble," Bet replied.

"But even if he''s removed from his post, he''s still a free man," Yvonne said, slightly disappointed.

“Haste makes waste. We''re not in a hurry," Bet said with a smile, ruffling her hair again.

When Ynda awoke, she too had left the county hospital and was back at the Walker family home.

"Wha-why am I at home? Is the surgery over?" Ynda struggled to sit up, feeling dizzy and light-headed.

She had felt just as ufortable after her previous two surgeries once the anesthesia wore off.

But after her previous surgeries, she had always woken up in the intensive care unit for observation. Why was she home this time?!
