"Isn''t that a good thing? We can only catch the Walker family when they show their true colors. After all these years of nning and eliminating so many of their pawns, that old fox is finally about to fall into our trap."
Yvonne''s voice was tinged with excitement as she spoke.
Bet felt a headacheing on. He gently stroked her hair. "Vonnie, do you realize how dangerous your situation is? You''re not alone anymore. You''re carrying our child."
"Don''t worry, I''ll take care of myself and protect our baby. Bet, you have to have faith in us." After speaking, she took his hand and ced it on her round belly.
"Baby, hurry and tell Daddy you''re the bravest baby ever."
As if in response, the baby suddenly moved a few times.
Bet''s gaze softened considerably as he gently caressed the baby through her belly.
Yvonne was ready for the wait to be over, and it seemed her baby was on the same page. In the quiet, early hours of the morning, the first contractions finally took hold.
It was Yvonne''s first time giving birth, and she had no experience.
At first, she just felt a series of sharp but not severe pains that woulde and go.
Yvonne didn''t think much of it, rolled over, and went back to sleep. A little whileter, the pain returned.
Finally realizing something was wrong, she pushed herself up and called out, "Bet."
Bet hadn''t been sleeping deeply. Hearing her call, he immediately sat up from the sleeper sofa.
"What''s wrong?" he asked.
"Bet... I''m having contractions. It''s time," Yvonne said, clutching her belly.
Bet instantly grew tense. He switched on the room light, rushed to her side, and pressed the call button by the bed.
Soon, a doctor and nurses arrived.
Mrs. Powell put on her stethoscope, listened to the baby''s heartbeat, and then felt Yvonne''s belly. "Labor has started but it shouldnt be too fast, Let''s get her to the delivery room first."
Two nurses quickly wheeled a gurney over.
Bet carefully lifted Yvonne onto the gurney. The medical staff pushed it, walking briskly toward the delivery room.
"Bet, I''m... I''m a little scared," Yvonne said, gripping his hand tightly, her breathing bing rapid.
"Don''t be scared. It''s okay. I''ll be with you the whole time," Bet said firmly.
However, the moment he finished speaking, he was blocked at the delivery room door.
"Sorry, sir, you can''t go in," a nurse said. The delivery room door then swung shut.
Bet stood outside, staring at the closed door, so nervous he could hardly breathe.
The night was so quiet, and Bet''s hearing was so sharp, that he could faintly hear cries and screamsing from inside the delivery room.
Giving birth must be incredibly painful, he thought, or Yvonne wouldn''t be crying so loudly.
This was Yvonne''s first baby, so it definitely wouldn''t be quick.
The baby hadn''t been born yet, but Frank and Emma had already arrived.
"How is Yvonne? Is the baby born yet?" Emma asked anxiously.
Bet shook his head, his face grim, his voice heavy. "She''s been in there for a
long time and hasn''te out."
"What time did she go in? Did she eat anything?" Emma asked again.
"She woke up in the middle of the
Room. Sens
night in activebor and was sent straight to the delivery room. probably digested whatever she ate for dinner," Noah said.
Under normal circumstances, she wouldn''t have been rushed to the delivery room so quickly, but
Yvonne''s situation was special, Mrs. Powell had to make arrangements.
