Yvonne was admitted to the hospital, and Bet took a day off to stay with her.
Mrs. Powell came by for her routine rounds and ordered a series of tests for Yvonne.
Yvonne took the thick stack of test forms and pouted. "So, they''re getting impatient over there? This eager to have me admitted?"
"I''m not an internist, so I don''t know the specifics. But thest time I saw Ms. Walker, she was very swollen and seemed quite ill," Mrs. Powell said in a hushed voice.
Yvonne asked, "Ynda was healthy when she was pregnant before. It''s only been a little over a year. How could her condition deteriorate so suddenly?"
Mrs. Powell shook her head. "Ms. Walker was indeed in good health before her pregnancy, but both pregnancy and inducedbor put a strain on the body. After her procedure, her kidney function began to decline. Normally, conventional treatment should be able to control it. I also find it strange that her condition has progressed so rapidly."
Yvonne frowned at this but didn''t press further. Instead, she waved the test forms. "Do I have to do all of these?"
Mrs. Powell replied, "I''ve already made the arrangements. Most of them are just for show. But a few are genuinely necessary for pregnant women. A mix of real and fake tests, so they won''t get suspicious.''
"Okay. I understand. Thank you for your hard work," Yvonne nodded.
After exining everything, Mrs. Powell left the room.
Yvonne sat on the hospital bed, casually flipping through the test forms. Aside from a few necessary prenatal checks, the rest were internal medicine exams.
"With all these kidney tests, they might as well just carve me open and see if I''m ripe for the picking," Yvonne scoffed.
"Don''t say things like that," Bet said with a frown, peeling an orange by her bedside.
"I''m just kidding." Yvonne shrugged it off, then continued, "Modern medicine is quite advanced in
treating kidney diseases. When
Ynda''s kidney function fire
started to decline, her condition,
shouldn''t have worsened so quickly with proper treatment, right?"
"What if she wasn''t cooperating with the treatment?" Bet looked up, his gaze dark and cold.
"What do you mean?" Yvonne asked, confused.
"Ynda was born with a weak constitution and has been receiving treatment since she was a child. Treating kidney disease is a long and painful process, sometimes even requiring dialysis. But surgery offered a permanent fix After getting a taste of the easy way out with her first surgery, she didn''t want to suffer through treatment again when her illness returned.
After my cousin passed away, the Moore family investigated, and so did I. When the trail led to the Walker family, had someone look
Ynda''s medical records
her
rpse, she deliberately neglected her treatment to make her condition deteriorate rapidly, all for the sake of getting another transnt. That''s why the Walkers didn''t wait for my cousin to give birth before they made their move.
Having gotten away with it once, and then a second time, Ynda is now trying to
pull the same trick again. As soon as they make a move, the Walker family''s true colors will finally be exposed."
Bet''s voice was heavy as he spoke.
When he had uncovered all this back then, he had nearly broken down.
If Ynda had just cooperated with her treatment, Flora''s baby could have been saved. But Ynda''s selfishness and malice cost both of them their lives.
While ying along with Ynda, there were many times Bet had to fight the urge to strangle her.
In his eyes, Ynda wasn''t even human. She was a demon in human skin-a monster who devoured others to survive.
