    When it was time for Cynthia''s next prenatal check-up, Noah apanied her personally.


    The obstetrics department was crowded in the morning, with nearly every wife apanied by her husband.

    Since they had an appointment, they only had to wait for a short while outside the doctor''s office for the patient inside to finish.


    The patient inside was also with her husband, but the age gap between them was sorge they looked more like a father and daughter.


    Noah knew the man. It was Mr. Leigh from Hynova Electronics, a self-made man who had built his business with his first wife. After he became sessful, he divorced his partner and married a C-list starlet more than twenty years his junior. Now, with a child on the way in hister years, he doted on his young wife, personally apanying her to every check-up.


    Noah and Mr. Leigh had crossed paths in business a few times, so they naturally exchanged pleasantries.


    "Mr. Leigh."


    "Mr. Thompson," Mr. Leigh said, shaking Noah''s hand with exceptional warmth before looking at Cynthia.


    Cynthia''s pregnancy wasn''t very far along, and her loose clothing concealed her belly, but a couple in the obstetrics department was obviously there for a check-up.


    Mr. Leigh asked, "When is Mrs. Thompson''s due date? You must let me know when the baby shower is!"


    "Of course," Noah replied with a smile. Then, with his arm around Cynthia, he walked into the doctor''s office.


    Cynthia''s appointment was for a routine check-up. The doctor monitored the baby''s heartbeat and ordered an ultrasound.


    The ultrasound had to be done in the imaging room downstairs.


    Noah apanied Cynthia down in the elevator.


    There was almost always a long line for ultrasounds at the hospital, but some people were able to enjoy special privileges.


    Naturally, Cynthia didn''t have to


    wait. She went into the ultrasound room and was lying on the examination bed when Noa standing beside her, suddenly received a phone call.


    Noah nced at the caller ID and frowned instinctively.

    With that, Noah took his phone and hurried out of the ultrasound room.


    Noah stood in the hospital corridor and answered the phone.


    Karina''s hysterical sobs broke through the line. "Noah, it''s Nic! There was an ident... there''s blood everywhere, she''s not waking up..... they''ve taken her to the hospital for emergency treatment.

    Outside the operating room, Mr. and Mrs. White were there, along with Karina. Karina was slumped in a chair, a crying wreck.
