"What''s wrong?"
"She just threw up again," Bet exined. "Yvonne''s not feeling well, so I''m taking her home."
"Alright, go home and get some rest. Have Helen make some light soup for Yvonne to drink, but make sure she continues taking her supplements. It should get better after these first two months," Emma instructed.
"I will," Bet nodded, and left with Yvonne in his arms.
"Bet and Yvonne are so in love, it really makes you envious," Cynthia couldn''t help butment as she watched Bet''s retreating back.
Even while carrying Yvonne, Bet''s steps were steady, and his every move was careful, as if he were holding a precious treasure.
"And you and Noah aren''t? You two were childhood sweethearts, with a bond forged since you were kids. Besides, after all these years and all the twists and turns, the fact that you could still end up together... it must be destiny," Emma said with a smile.
Cynthia forced a smile in return, but it didn''t reach her eyes.
Cynthia had thought she had everything under control, but she had underestimated a father''s love for his daughter.
The bond of blood was deeper and more steadfast than love.
Her baby was gone, yet Noah had a child with another woman-a child he now cherished and held dear.
Cynthia thought she could be indifferent, that she could face it calmly, but she had overestimated herself. It felt like something was stuck in her chest, a constant pressure that made it hard to breathe.
If Cynthia were a little more ruthless, she could have made Nic disappear without
a trace. The fools in the White family would probably never even notice.
But Cynthia still had her sanity and wouldn''t harm an innocent child.
"You were just admiring how Bet came to get Yvonne, and look, herees Noah," Emma said with a smile, lightly tugging Cynthia''s arm.
Cynthia looked up and saw Noah''s car approaching, pulling to a stop right in front of the shop.
Noah was driving himself. He got out of the driver''s side, walked around the car, and approached Emma and Cynthia.
"Emma," Noah greeted her first.
Emma nodded. Just then, her own car pulled up and parked next to Noah''s.
"I''ll be heading off then. I won''t be a third wheel for you two lovebirds," Emma said with augh before getting into her car and leaving.
After Emma''s car drove off, Cynthia turned to Noah and asked, "Why did you suddenlye over?"
"I finished my client meeting this afternoon and had nothing else scheduled I was going to head home to be with you, but the staff said you were here with Emma, so I came to pick you up Noah
exined, then added, "didn''t interrupt anything, did I?
"We were here with Yvonne to pick out her wedding gown and dresses. She wasn''t feeling well, so Bet took her home early." Cynthia replied, stepping down the stairs in
her high heels.
Noah walked beside her and, with a thoughtful gesture, opened the car door and helped her in.
During the drive, neither of them spoke.
Although Noah and Cynthia weren''t exactly in a cold war, the honeymoon phase
had long since evaporated.
Noah was busy withpany
affairs and Cynthia had her ow
businesses to run a
a film production
which kept her even busier
As a result, the couple left early and returnedte, sometimes barely exchanging a
few words all day.
