This was the first time Cynthia had spoken so much to Yvonne. She swirled the wine
in her ss, took a sip, and continued, "Besides, Noah''s marriage is aplete disaster. It would have ended in divorce sooner orter, even without my
interference. I''m just speeding up the inevitable."
Yvonne listened and nodded in agreement.
It was true that Noah and Karina were unlikely tost, but that didn''t give Cynthia a free pass to steal him away.
"If Noah and Karina were happily married, would you still try to take him?" Yvonne asked suddenly.
Cynthia let out a suddenugh. "I''d still go after him. That''s the kind of person I am. When I want something, I''ll fight for it until I''m ck and blue, but I will never let go."
After saying this, she took another sip of wine, her eyes narrowing as she studied Yvonne intently.
"Honestly, I''m very curious about why Bet married you."
Yvonne replied, "Didn''t you say I look a lot like his ex-girlfriend? Maybe he really does just see me as a substitute."
Cynthia scoffed. "The Bet I know isn''t the kind of man to y those substitute games. I''ve always thought he and I were the same we love with every fiber of our being. After the first Yvonne died, he should have spent the rest of his life alone. But then he suddenly fell for you. Sometimes, I almost wonder if you''ve been possessed by her spirit..."
Yvonne''s hand, which was reaching for some food, trembled so violently that she almost dropped her fork.
Cynthia watched her reaction with a thoughtful expression just as Director Davis and Sandra walked back in.
"What are you two talking about?" Director Davis asked casually.
"We were just discussing Mr. Bet Thompson''ste ex-girlfriend," Yvonne said, raising an eyebrow.
Director Davis was stunned.
He turned to look at Cynthia as if she were an idiot.
Anyone with any connections in the industry knew that Yvonne was Bet''s legal wife. Talking about bis ex-girlfriend in front of his current wife was just asking for trouble.
Cynthia was usually so sharp. Had she lost her mind today?!
"Were you close with Mr. Thompson''s ex-girlfriend, Ms. Scott?" Sandra asked, her
face impassive as she sat down.
"We met a few times," Cynthia replied.
"So, not close, then. The dead should be left to rest. Let''s not bring her up again. With that, Sandra picked up a sweet and sour short rib and ced
it in
Yvonne''s bowl.

Yvonne picked it up and took a bite. It was rich but not greasy, leaving a slight sheen on her lips.
"Don''t eat too much. You''ll be on set soon, and a chubby face looks terrible on
camera,” Sandramented, giving her a sideways nce.
Yvonne retorted, "Weren''t you the one who gave it to me?”
Sandra shot back, "Just because I gave it to you doesn''t mean you have to eat it. You have no self-control."
Yvonne was speechless.
After Director Davis and Sandra returned, the conversation shifted back to casting. The supporting` roles had mostly been decided, but the male fead remained up in the air.
Many actors had auditioned today, but none felt quite right. If they had to choose
from the current pool, it would be apromise.
