"Where is my wife?" Noah asked, his face grim.
"Sir, she went to her parents'' house and hasn''te back. If it''s urgent, you could call her," the housekeeper said.
Noah nodded, took out his phone, and dialed Karina''s number. It rang for a long time, but no one answered.
Meanwhile, at the White family home.
Karina was still arguing with her parents. Her phone was in her purse, which was tossed on a nearby sofa, so she didn''t hear it ring.
"Karina, Kevin is your only brother! You can''t just abandon him. If anything happens to him, your father and I won''t be able to go on living!"
Mrs. White covered her face, sobbing.
"How am I supposed to help him? Two hundred million! He gambled away two hundred million!" Karina''s eyes were red with anger.
Over the years, Kevin had caused nothing but trouble. Because Karina was the wife of the eldest Thompson son, he acted unscrupulously, and no one dared to cross him.
When he went too far, it was always Karina who had to step in and fix things. For years, she had been cleaning up after her good-for-nothing brother. But Kevin never learned his lesson, and this time, he''d gotten himself into enormous trouble.
Kevin had been tricked into gambling. He lost a full two hundred million, and the White family only found out when the creditors came knocking at their door.
The Whites certainly couldn''t produce that kind of money, so their only option was to summon Karina home to discuss it.
"Karina, you''re a daughter-inw of the Thompson family. They''re the richest family in Istra! Two hundred million is a drop in the bucket for them," Mr. White said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Karina was on the verge of tears from frustration. "It''s easy for you to say, but I don''t run the Thompson family! The Thompson Group belongs to Frank and his family. It''s not like I married Mr. Thompson himself!"
Mr. White sighed in exasperation. "If you weren''t a few years older than Bet, you should have married him instead. It would have been much better than marrying that useless Noah."
Bet''s marriage hadn''t been publicly announced, but everyone in their social circle knew about it. As inws, the White family was certainly in the know.
The Thompson men were known for doting on their women. Bet spent money on that young Yvonne without batting an eye. A single piece of jewelry could cost tens of millions, or even over a hundred million.
For a man like him, two hundred million was just pocket money to spend on a woman.
"Are you done arguing?" Kevin, the one who had caused all the trouble, was lounging on the sofa, lookingpletely unbothered. "I just had a bad streak of luck recently. Just front me the money for now Wher my luck turns, I''ll win it all back with interest and repay you."
"You want to keep gambling?!" Karina felt dizzy, almost fainting. "Kevin, if you keep
this up, no one will be able to save you."
"Karina, how can you say such harsh things to your brother? He''s still just a kid who doesn''t know any better All kids make mistakes.
knows
he was wrong this time I''ll make sure to teach him a good lesson so it doesn''t happen again."
Mrs. White said, defending her son.
“He''s in his thirties, not a child! You always say he''ll change, but how many of his messes have I had to clean up over the years?" Karina raised her voice, which trembled uncontrobly.
Mr. White replied, "What sister doesn''t help her brother? What''s there toin about? If you didn''t have your brother, you''d have no one to back you up if you were ever mistreated by your inws."
Mr. White''s face darkened. After scolding Karina, he delivered his final verdict: "What happened this time was indeed Kevin''s fault, and I will discipline him. But as his sister you can''t just stand by and do nothing. The creditors said they want the money within a week at most."
