Chapter 773

Bet turned the steering wheel and said casually.

"Who says Karina has no leverage? A child is the biggest bargaining chip there is. Noah is soft-hearted and has a strong sense of responsibility. If she used that chip well, it wouldn''t be so easy for Cynthia to take her ce. Unfortunately, Karina''s not too bright up here."

    Yvonne said, tapping her head.

Bet couldn''t help butugh. "It''s a good thing Cynthia''s opponent isn''t you. Otherwise, you two would turn the main branch of the Thompson familypletely upside down."

Yvonne replied, "I would never be an opponent to another woman. Competing with another woman is the ultimate sign of weakness. Besides, the man who causes such rivalry is even more despicable. If a man hasn''t moved on from his past, he has no business messing with an innocent woman''s life."

Hearing that, Bet could only nod in agreement, not daring to argue. As a man himself, he wasn''t about to defend Noah and risk Yvonne lumping him into the same category.

Bet drove them back to Cherry Bay.

When they arrived at the apartment, Helen and Bullet were gone.

Apart from cleaning and cooking, Helen spent the rest of her time with Bullet next door, making sure never to disturb Bet and Yvonne''s private time together.

Yvonne kicked off her shoes and walked barefoot across the floor.

"I''m so tired. My face is stiff from smiling all day. Being a Thompson daughter-inw is no easy job," Yvonne sighed.

"If you don''t like it, you don''t have to go to those events in the future. There''s no one Mrs. Thompson is obligated to entertain," Bet said, walking over and gently ruffling her hair. "I''ll go run you a bath. A nice soak will make you feel better."

"Mmm," Yvonne hummedzily, her head resting on the back of the sofa.

Bet went to the bathroom to run the bath. After checking the water temperature, he carried Yvonne into the bathroom.

Yvonne stood in front of the tub, about to undress, when she turned and saw

Bet leaning against the counter, showing no intention of leaving.

"I''m going to take a bath. Aren''t you leaving?"

"I''ll help you wash up," Bet said with a warm smile.

"No, thank you. I''m exhausted today and don

want to waste any more energy, vonne said, pushing him toward the door.

"Such low stamina. It seems Mom was right, you really do need to build up your strength Bet chuckled as he slowly walked out of the

    bathroom.

Yvonne enjoyed a long, fortable bath and was snuggled up in bed early.

Bet showered in the other bathroom and then went to his study.

He still had a lot of work to do. By the time he finished and returned to the

    adroom, it was already eleven

Yvonne was fast asleep, wrapped up in the duvet like a burrito, with only her fair little face showing.

Bet sat on the edge of the bed, his hand gently stroking her cheek, his gaze incredibly tender.

"Sleep well, Vonnie. Good night, sweet dreams."

Yvonne did indeed sleep well all night, and when morning came, she woke up in Bet''s arms.

She rubbed her eyes and shifted instinctively.

The slight movement woke Bet. His deep, dark eyes were half-closed as he gazed at her warmly. "You''re awake?"

"Mmm," Yvonne hummed, rubbing her eyes.

"Did you sleep well?" Bet asked, his arm tightening around her waist.

"Very well. How about you?" Yvonne''s mind finally cleared, and she looked at him with bright, sparkling eyes.
