The phone rang for a long time before it was answered.
"What is it?" Vincent''s voice came from the other end.
“Eden is a bit of a handful. He came over here screaming his head off. Just an illegitimate son, and he really thinks he''s something."
Tim snorted with disdain.
“What happened?” Vincent asked, not quite understanding.
"The police called Eden in for questioning today. The ''young master'' came back in a rage, nearly tore my house down." Tim added, "Vincent, your judgment is getting worse. This illegitimate kid is a far cry from Bet.”
When Bet was dating Ynda, Tim had met him a few times.
The heir of the Thompson family had always given the impression of being inscrutable.
No matter what you talked to him about, he could contribute meaningfully. He was incrediblyposed, and you could never figure out what he was truly thinking.
“Enough. What''s the point of saying all this? If Ynda could have secured Bet''s devotion, or if we had some leverage over him, would we need to go to all this trouble? Eden may be impulsive, but at least he''s easy to control."
Vincent said unhurriedly.
"I''m just worried he''s too reckless and will ruin our ns,” Tim said.
"Don''t worry. He''s not stupid enough to drag everyone down with him. I''ll talk to himter. That''s all for now, I''m busy."
Vincent finished and hung up. When he turned around, he saw Apriling out of the ultrasound room.
"Vincent, what are you doing?" April, dressed in a striped hospital gown, held the ultrasound report in her hand. "Who were you talking to? Your wife? Your daughter? If they''re waiting for you, you should go be with them."
After speaking, April turned and went back to her hospital room by herself.
Vincent hurried after her, grabbing
her arm and holding his phone out
to her was a call from Tim. Look it if you d don''taelleve he he exined
wearily.
"Tim? Is something wrong with the case?" April asked worriedly.
"Don''t worry, nothing''s wrong," Vincent said, wrapping an arm around her. "How
could a case you nned so meticulously go wrong?"
Just then, the local news on the hospital room''s TV was reporting on the case, and a brief shot of two bodies covered in white sheets shed across the screen.
April''s body instinctively tensed up. She frantically grabbed the remote and turned off the TV.
"I can''t believe I taught at the police academy for so many years, only to use what I learned to kill people April said with a self-deprecating Sheer, tossing the remote back on the table.
"What, are you getting scared?" Vincent asked, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and staring at her intently.
"No." April shook her head. "I can''t keep living like this — it ends now. I can''t wait to meet the little one."
April then showed the picture to Vincent. "The doctor said the baby is doing well, already fully formed."
Vincent took the report, his expression softening. "I wonder if it''s a boy or a girl.” "Do you want a boy or a girl?" April asked.
"As long as it''s yours, I''ll love it," Vincent said, pulling her closer and kissing her forehead firmly. “Don''t worry, I''ll tell Tim not to bother you."
"Okay,” April nodded. "Right now, I just want to focus on the pregnancy and deliver our baby safely. I..."
