“Alright, have you made enough of a scene? Come home with me.”
"I won''t..." Mrs. Walker struggled as he pulled her along. As they passed April, she shot her a venomous re.
April kept her head down, her pale lips pressed tightly together, saying nothing. Through blurry eyes, she watched Mr. Walker drag his wife away.
Mr. Walker took his wife back to the Walker family estate.
Along the way, Mrs. Walker continued to shout and curse, her insults towards April growing increasingly vile.
He threw her onto the living room sofa and, having reached his limit, pped her across the face.
The sharp sound was followed by an abrupt silence.
Mrs. Walker clutched her cheek, staring at him in disbelief.
"You... you hit me? You hit me for that woman! Vincent, you bastard!"
"What do you know?" Mr. Walker''s face was ashen with rage as he pointed a finger at her. "Do you have any idea that Apriles from a family of police officers? Do you know how much she can do for me? Do you realize that if it wasn''t for her sharp instincts, for her discovering that undercover cop, I would have been finished seven years ago! All you do is live a life of luxury. If you can''t help me, fine, but must you cause me more trouble?"
His tirade left Mrs. Walker speechless, able to do nothing but sob quietly.
"Dad, Mom, what are you arguing about?" Ynda came down from upstairs, looking at them with concern.
"It''s nothing, just a small disagreement," Mr. Walker said, his tone softening at the sight of his only daughter.
"Mom, Dad, please don''t fight. You''re scaring me," Ynda said timidly.
"Alright." Mr. Walker patted Ynda''s head. "You should spend some time with your mothertely. Take her out, help her clear her mind, and stop her from overthinking..."
Before he could finish, his phone rang. It was his secretary.
"Professor Martinez fainted. I''m having her sent to the hospital now."
"Okay, I understand. I''m on my way," Mr. Walker said, hanging up, his expression turning grave.
"I have to go out. You behave yourself for a while. You are Mrs Walker and no one can change that. But if you keep making scenes don''t me me for forgetting our years of marriage."
After warning his wife, Mr. Walker hurried out.
"Where is Dad going in such a rush?" Ynda asked, watching him leave.
"Where else could he go? To see that homewrecker of his, of course," Mrs. Walker said, dabbing at her tears with a tissue.
"Is it true, about Dad and that teacher from the police academy?" Ynda asked tentatively.
Although the matter had been
suppressed due to Mr. Walker''s high
position, everyone in their social
knew about it and there was
Cnty gossip.
of
Ynda, naturally, had heard some of it.
Mrs. Walker wiped her tears, her face slightly swollen and her expression contorted with anger.
"Mom, what happened to your face?" Ynda gasped and immediately told a maid to fetch the first-aid kit.
The maid quickly brought it over, and Ynda found an anti-swelling ointment to apply to her mother''s cheek.
As the ointment touched her skin, Mrs. Walker winced in pain and snarled, "That bitch April. Sooner orter, I''ll make her pay."
Ynda finished applying the cream, her face still etched with worry.
"Mom, if Dad has another family, will it affect our position in his heart? My health has always been poor. If?e hasonldren, will he abandon me?"
