It was quite a coincidence; he hadn''t expected the young woman''s name to sound exactly like the other Yvonne''s.
Mr. Reed chatted warmly with Yvonne for a few minutes and introduced her to the other people in the office. Yvonne greeted them all with grace and poise, remaining perfectlyposed even when facing Mr. Walker.
Mr. Reed was even more at ease. In his view, the Thompson and Walker families were never officially engaged, so it wasn''t a formal alliance. Bet and Ms. Walker had just dated for a while. It was perfectly normal for young people to be together one day and broken up the next.
Bet and the first Yvonne had been childhood sweethearts and together for many years. After she sacrificed her life, the Jones family never stopped Bet from dating again.
What did the Walker family have toin about?
If they were unhappy, it just showed they were being petty.
Now that Bet was here, he couldn''t leave right away. Mr. Reed pulled him into the conversation with the other officials.
Yvonne, naturally, wasn''t interested in their discussion and felt bored sitting to the side.
Just then, Mr. Reed''s daughter, Letitia Reed, arrived. Mr. Reed asked her to take Yvonne on a tour of the campus.
Letitia readily agreed in front of her father and led Yvonne out of the office.
Yvonne followed behind Letitia, her emotions stirring slightly as she watched her from behind.
Letitia was two years younger than her and had been her junior at the academy.
They had always been very close, often going shopping or traveling together during breaks. Letitia had even said that when Yvonne and Bet got married, she would be her maid of honor.
But tragically, Yvonne had died. She never got to be a bride, and Letitia never got the chance to be her bridesmaid.
Letitia was walking with long strides. Yvonne''s current body was shorter and less athletic, and she had to jog to keep up, quickly bing winded.
Yvonne trailed behind Letitia, who gave her nothing but sour looks and eventually got annoyed with her for following.
Letitia stopped and red at Yvonne.
"Yvonne and Mr. Bet Thompson were childhood sweethearts. They were together for many years. I''m sure you know that."
"I''ve heard," Yvonne replied, still a bit breathless as she nodded.
"If she hadn''t died, you wouldn''t even have the chance to stand next to Bet," Letitia added.
Yvonne nodded in agreement.
If she hadn''t died, she wouldn''t have be this Yvonne.
Seeing Yvonne''s meek and
submissive attitude, Letitia found it hard to scold her further. Instead,
she just red and looked

up and down.
"Mr. Bet Thompson''s taste is really getting worse. That Ynda woman smiles like a doll-not charming at all. And you apart from a pretty face, you get out of breath after a short run. You can''t hold a candle to even a single finger of Yvonne. I really don''t know what Bet sees in you."
Yvonne was speechless.
Her junior, Letitia, was just like Mr. Reed-blunt and outspoken, saying whatever was on her mind.
After her rant, Letitia turned and started walking again, but this time she slowed her pace to amodate Yvonne''s stamina.
This junior of hers truly had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
"I have to get to ss now. Are youing with me, or do you want to wander
around by yourself?"
"Whose ss is it?" Yvonne asked casually.
"Winston Shah. It''s Mr. Shah''s
military theory ss," Letitia replied, then muttered, "Why are you asking
it
so many questions? As you''d understand any of it"
"I''ll go to the ss with you," Yvonne said.
It had been a long time since she had attended one of Mr. Shah''s lectures.
