Chapter 518

Following behind Bet, Yvonne finally returned to her alma mater after so many years.

The school hadn''t changed much from her memory. The academic building was still stately and solemn, and on the athletic field, students were running and chanting slogans, their energy palpable.

Due to the anniversary celebration, the campus was more crowded than usual. "Let''s go say hello to Mr. Reed first," Bet said to Yvonne.

Mr. Reed of the police academy was a formerrade-in-arms of Tobias.

Back when Bet was dating the first Yvonne, he had often used visiting Mr. Reed as an excuse to see his girlfriend.

As Bet and Yvonne slowly walked toward the administration building, they ran into April Martinez right at the entrance.

Because it was the anniversary, many distinguished alumni and city officials had been invited.

The city officials were being escorted by the school''s leadership, while April was in charge of greeting the outstanding graduates.

April was talking with some former students when she turned her head and saw Bet and Yvonne approaching.

“Bet, what are you doing here? You didn''t tell me you wereing."

"Professor Martinez," Bet greeted her calmly.

"And this is?" April asked, looking at Yvonne with deliberate curiosity.

April had met Yvonne before. Even with the mask, April''s sharp police instincts should have allowed her to recognize her.

"My girlfriend, Yvonne Jones. You met her at the gatheringst time," Bet reintroduced her, his tone t.

"Oh, I must be getting old. My memory isn''t what it used to be," April said with an awkwardugh, then turned to Yvonne. "This must be your first time at the police academy, Ms. Jones. Wee."

"Professor Martinez," Yvonne said, greeting her out of politeness, but her tone was cool and distant.

April had been her beloved mentor, but looking at her now, Yvonne could no longer find any trace of their former bond.

Bet didn''t say much more to April either. He took Yvonne''s hand and said, "We''re going to see Mr. Reed. We shouldn''t keep him waiting."

Mr. Reed''s office was on the top floor of the administration building.

When Bet and Yvonne walked in, Mr. Reed was chatting with city officials and the academy''s leadership team.

Bet was surprised to see that Mr. Walker himself hade to the anniversary celebration.

"Bet, you''re here! Come on in," Mr. Reed said with a smile, waving him over from the door.

"Mr. Reed, Mr, Martin, Mr. Lee, Mr. Walker..." Bet led Yvonne into the principal''s office. The room was filled with city and school leaders most of He whom Bet knew.. greeted each one by one, including Mr. Walker, his manners polite and impable.

"And this must be the girlfriend you told me about My daughter watches your TV series every night, You''re even more beautiful in person than on television."

    Mr. Reed said cheerfully.

Everyone present knew that the Thompson and Walker families had been discussing a marria alliance,

but Mr. Bet Thompson had broke up with Ms. Walker for a young actress, and the engagement had fallen through.

Some were already subtly ncing between Bet and Mr. Walker. However, the two men involved acted as if nothing had happened, chatting andughing naturally.

“Mr. Reed, hello. I''m Yvonne,” she said, greeting him respectfully.

She was no stranger to Mr. Reed; she had met him a few times when she was a student.

Mr. Reed had been a battle-hardened soldier before retiring from the military and joining the police force. He was known for being very straightforward.

"Your name is Yvonne? That''s a lovely name," Mr. Reed said with a nod, ncing instinctively at Bet.
