Chapter 490

Yvonney back down on the hospital bed, her head still feeling dizzy and wanting to sleep.

A short whileter, there was a knock on the door. Yvonne thought it was Bet returning. She sat up, only to see Jeffrey and Teresa, in his whiteb coat, walk in.

Jeffrey also worked at this hospital. He happened to be on duty today and saw Bet bring Yvonne in for treatment when he was called for a consultation in the emergency department.

Jeffrey asked his colleagues in the ER and found out that Yvonne had a viral flu and a high fever.

Jeffrey had alreadye by once while Yvonne was asleep.

However, Yvonne was sleeping at the time, and Bet had been cold and dismissive, so Jeffrey hadn''t overstayed his wee. Seeing that Yvonne was fine, he had gone back to work.

Later, Jeffrey told Teresa that Yvonne had been admitted to the hospital.

Teresa had specially made some rice porridge and brought it to the hospital herself.

"What are you two doing here?" Yvonne asked, frowning by habit when she saw them.

"You''re sick and in the hospital, so I came to see you,” Teresa replied, then nced around the private room. "Where''s Mr. Bet Thompson? Wasn''t he the one who brought you here? Why isn''t he around?"

Yvonne leaned back against the bed, not wanting to talk to her, her gaze cool.

Seeing Yvonne''s silence, Teresa didn''t press the matter and instead ced the insted container she was carrying on the nightstand, then continued to chatter

    on.

"Jeffrey just asked the doctor, and he said your fever has gone down. That''s good. Drink it while it''s hot, and you''ll recover quickly."

"Honestly, you''re a grown woman, yet you catch a cold and get a fever just from a little wind. Are you made of paper?”

"Mr. Bet Thompson brought you to the hospital and has been taking care of you all day. How are things going with him? Is he going to marry you or not? A girl''s youth is the most precious thing, you can''t waste it. You can''t just keep dragging this out with him. Once you get older, you won''t be as desirable."

Yvonne''s head ached, and she felt miserable.

Teresa''s nagging only made her headache worse, and she couldn''t help but frown.

Yvonne truly couldn''t understand Teresa''s way of thinking.

    ?

Teresa had given birth to three children, so she couldn''t possibly not know how to be a mother. Besides, she had been so gentle and caring with Queena, raising her like a princess.

But it seemed Teresa had never known how to interact with Yvonne; everything she did was just irritating.

“Hurry up and eat. I had the maid make this for you specially," Teresa said, pouring the porridge into a bowl and handing it to Yvonne.

The porridge was cooked until it was thick and creamy. It gave off a faint, unappetizing smell.

Yvonne felt nauseous just smelling it and pushed the bowl away with a frown.

Teresa didn''t expect Yvonne to push it away. She lost her grip, and the porridge spilled onto her clothes, sticky and a little hot.

Teresa frantically wiped the sticky mess off her clothes with a tissue, her face contorted with clear displeasure.

"What is wrong with you? So clumsy. You spilled the porridge and got it all over me."

Jeffrey had been standing by the whole time. As a doctor, he understood patients better.

He could see that Yvonne was feeling very unwell and spoke up.

    "Mom, please say less von

still a patient and isn''t feeling well. You''re disturbing her."

"So delicate. I''m her own mother, can''t I even say anything? I''m only doing this for her own good." Teresa then picked up the insted

    container again. "Good thingel. ne

prepared extra, otherwise there wouldn''t be enough for you to waste."

As Teresa was about to pour out the remaining porridge from the container, Bet

    returned with a food container.
