Wendy admitted it freely, her smile like the first light of dawn, radiating a sense of rebirth.
"A show this good naturally needs an audience. The grandson this old woman was so proud of isn''t even hers. She deserved to know, didn''t she? What''s wrong with calling her over?"
Wendy''s light, airy tone made Sophia want to kill her.
"Wendy, I''ll kill you!"
She lunged wildly toward Wendy.
Nathan quickly stepped in front of Wendy, blocking Sophia.
Sophiaughed, a bitter, twisted expression on her face. "Nathan, you''re stopping me?"
Nathan looked down, a cold smile on his lips. "Sophia, let''s just spend the rest of our lives like this, torturing each other."
Sophia was stunned. "No! I want a divorce."
"Impossible. I will never divorce you," Nathan said with a vicious smile. A flicker of fear ignited in Sophia''s heart.
Nathan''s smile was all too familiar, and it terrified her. The hair on the back of her neck stood up.
He had been capable of drugging Wendy, who had been good to him her whole life. What would he do to her, the woman who had cheated on him?
"Nathan, you already ruined my youth. Are you hell-bent on dragging me down with you?" Sophia screamed. Her son was back, and she needed to secure a better future for him.
She had been deceiving Nathan for years.
If the truth had nevere out, she could have tolerated it for her son''s sake.
But now that everything was out in the open, why should she have to endure it any longer?
Seeing her panic, Nathanughed. "Sophia, I paid for your youth. Everything you ate, everything you used, I gave it to you. Did that Wilson guy give you more? You two idiots, are you really telling me you never used a single cent of my money?" Sophia was speechless.
"Nathan, for Joanna''s sake, I can agree not to divorce you. But you can never bring this up again."
"Mom, you''re not going to divorce him? You''re going to spend the rest of your life with a loser?"
An arrogant voice came from behind them.
Nathan looked up and saw Alexander.
"When did you get back?" Nathan asked, shocked.
Alexander was slightly soft around the middle, drowning in a loose-fitting suit, though he possessed a certain sharp, roguish charm He smiled and walked over to stand in front of Joanne Joanna, aren''t you happy to wee your big brother home?"
Joanna sneered. "What''s there to wee? You''re back, so you''re back."
A wave of bitterness washed over
her. He might be her brother, but et
over done anything for her.
All he ever did was ask for money. He never once bought her a birthday present or a holiday gift.
Jerome and his brothers were different. They would buy her anything she wanted, regardless of the price.
This was also the first time Wendy had seen Alexander. He didn''t look like Mr. Wilson, either. Whose son was he?
Colin looked at Nathan and mocked him. "Mr. Scott, so this is your prized son you''ve been raising abroad? thought he''d be someone impressive. Seeing him today, hes
just another loser." ''
Hearing Colin''s voice, Nathan became emotional. "Colin, He is no son of mine. My only sons are you and your brothers."
Colinughed mockingly. "Don''t even think about it. The five of us were forced by you to sign papers severing all ties."
Nathan''s gaze sharpened with a sudden, agonizing rity as he realized he was the one left with nothing.
Colin helped his mother up. "Mom, let''s go. We''re going to bete for our appointment with the doctor."
