She held the little one''s warm feet and gave his bottom a couple of soft pats.


    "Waaah..."


    It wasn''t a loud cry, just a faint whimper, like a kitten''s.


    But the baby was healthy.


    Natalie looked at Arthur and said, "Congrattions! It''s a little boy."


    Arthur was overjoyed. Mother and son were safe. That was all that mattered. They were both safe.


    "Thank you, doctor. How is my wife?" he asked, looking anxiously at Hailey Lawson. Natalie smiled. "She''s doing well, just exhausted."


    This was the first new life she had helped bring into the world since her rebirth.


    In her past life, she had also carried a son.


    Natalie remembered how she and her son had been smashed to a pulp.


    Her eyes immediately reddened. She quickly ced the baby in a small nket nearby and swaddled him.


    Then, afterying him on his side, she moved to help Hailey deliver the centa. She worked quickly, cleaning Hailey up and cing a soft nket beneath her. Natalie picked up the baby and brought him over to the weak Hailey. "Ms. Lawson, look. Your baby was born safely. He''s a healthy little boy, fair and chubby."


    He looked just like Arthur.


    Arthur smiled and sat beside them. "Hailey, do you see? Our child was born safely. He looks so much like me. Hailey, you worked so hard."


    Hailey Lawson struggled to open her eyes and looked at him. "Arthur, don''t you touch my baby. He''s mine. As soon as I''m strong enough, we''re getting a divorce."


    Arthur''s brow furrowed. "Honey, let''s talk about the divorceter. You need to rest right now."


    Hailey didn''t have the strength to argue. She turned to Natalie. "Doctor, you promised me you would protect my child. Please, don''t let him out of your sight."


    Natalie met her gaze with a reassuring look. "Of course. You rest now. We still need to get to the hospital soon."


    Hailey was exhausted. Hearing Natalie''s words, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.


    Seeing her finally resting, Arthur let out a sigh of relief.


    He looked ahead and saw the traffic still wasn''t moving. He was getting anxious. "Doctor, may I see the baby?"


    Natalie gave him a cold look. "I''m sorry, but I promised your wife I wouldn''t let you near him. If you want to see him, you can look from here."


    Arthur''s heart ached. How had things between him and his wifee to this?


    Natalie held the baby a little closer so he could see.


    "Heh heh..." Arthur chuckled. Seeing his son''s rosy little face, which looked so much like his own as a baby, he couldn''t help but smile.


    Was this what it felt like to have a blood connection? It was so warm, so wonderful.

    Arthur''s smile froze. He pressed his lips together and, after a moment, exined, "Hailey has misunderstood. I''m not that kind of

    Remembering the evidence Hailey Lawson had mentioned, Natalie offered a suggestion. "If you''re so sure of your innocence maybe you should check your wife''s phone. It''s possible someone is trying to sow discord between you."


    She thought of women like Joanna, who had no scruples and would do anything to get what they wanted.


    Joanna was constantly provoking her, so she had plenty of experience with this sort of thing.


    Arthur considered it and started to look for Hailey''s phone.


    Just as he was about to search, the car door opened.


    Brittany''s voice cut in. "Arthur, the cars ahead are moving. We can take her to the hospital now."
