Sebastian carried Joanna into the elevator. He didn''t go to a private suite but took her down to the basement where Susan had been locked.
Joanna was only faking it. The warmth of Sebastian''s arms made her inwardly rejoice; he still cared about her.
He would never be a match for her. When it came down to it, Sebastian was just another man easily blinded by affection.
The elevator arrived at the basement level.
As soon as they stepped out, Joanna felt a sudden chill.
But she was supposed to be unconscious, so she didn''t dare open her eyes.
She had no idea what Sebastian was nning.
Her only thought was that he was taking her to the hospital.
Joanna was thinking gleefully when he suddenly dropped her on the floor.
"Ah!" Joanna cried out in pain.
Her eyes flew open, and she stared at Sebastian in shock.
Sebastian stood in the doorway, his dark eyes icy as he looked down at her.
"Sebastian, you..." How dare he throw her on the ground?
Joanna''s entire body ached.
Sebastian sneered. "Joanna, why''d you stop pretending to be unconscious?"
"I..." Joanna was utterly mortified.
She quickly tried to deflect. "Sebastian, I just didn''t want to expose our rtionship. Don''t forget, the movie you invested in hasn''t been released yet. If you say we have no rtionship, you''ll definitely lose money when ites out."
His eyes were filled with mockery. "Do you think I care about that little bit of money?"
Joanna flinched again. She had heard that Sebastian had made a fortune in the stock market recently.
He had never been short on money, but now he was unwilling to spend a single cent on her.
"Sebastian..."
But Sebastian took a step back and spoke coldly, "Joanna, I told you before, I''m not a good person. Whatever tricks you used on me, I''ll return in kind."
"You left Susan in here until she was half-dead from the cold. Now, you''re going to stay here until you feel exactly what she felt."
"What?" Joanna was horrified. How did he know? "No, Sebastian, it wasn''t me! It really wasn''t!"
Joanna was terrified. Forty minutes in here, and she would freeze to death.
"Sebastian, I''ll die of cold! Please, let me go! What happened to Susan had nothing to do with me!"
Joanna was scared. She couldn''t fight the forces of nature.
In sub-zero temperatures, forty minutes would be a death sentence.
Besides, Susan must be close to
death after being here. She''d even arranged for people to block any help from arriving. A useless persont like Susan deserved to die.
Just seeing her made Joanna''s blood boil.
But Sebastian was being too cruel, leaving her here to freeze.
Seeing his impassive expression, she grew desperate and crawled toward him to beg.
Her knees, covered only by thin leggings, scraped against the uneven floor, a searing pain against the biting cold.
The extreme temperature made her shiver uncontrobly.
It was so cold. Susan must be dead by now.
She grabbed the leg of Sebastian''s pants and looked up, her expression pitiful. "Sebastian, you can''t do this to me I''m the Joann? you love How can you bear to let me freeze in here?"
Sebastian took a sharp step back. Lowering his gaze, he stared at her. "Joanna warned you, but you didn''t lister Susan was in here for forty minutes, so you''ll stay for forty minutes. It''s called giving you a taste of your own medicine."
Sebastian turned and locked the door.
He took out his phone and called Sean.
"Hello!"
A woman''s voice answered, startling him for a moment. "Luna, why is it you?
Where''s Sean?"
