Chapter 217

Sebastian stared out the window at the harsh autumn sunlight. After a long

silence, he spoke, his voice t. "Return the money. She is my wife. It''s my duty to pay her hospital bills. Also, when we get back, send one of my ck cards to her. She can spend as much as she wants."

Sean was taken aback but knew better than to argue. "Yes, boss." He stopped at a red light and transferred the money back to Natalie, though he knew she wouldn''t ept it.

Natalie was in the middle of her meal when she saw the returned transfer and

    Sean''s message.

[Ms. Sanders, Mr. Griffith says you are his wife, and it is his duty to pay your medical bills.]

She immediately called Sean and put him on speaker.

    "Hello, Ms. Sanders."

Her voice was cold and detached. "Sean, tell your boss that we are in the process of divorcing. I will not use a single cent of his money. He once told me I wasn''t worthy of it, and I have no intention of starting now. I''ve sent the money back. Do not return it again. And if you have a moment, please advise him to finalize our divorce as soon as possible.” She hung up and resent the money.

Sean sighed helplessly. "Boss, you heard her. Ms. Sanders won''t take your money." To be brutally honest, everything Sebastian did for Joanna was tantamount to supporting a mistress.

Sebastian frowned, confused. "Those were just things I said when I was angry..."

"But boss, even if you were just angry, your actions speak for themselves: You''ve been bankrolling a mistress. The entire Scott family sees your tant favoritism toward Joanna and they approve of it. You give her millions a month in spending money whilepletely.. ignoring your own wife. In anyone''s eyes, that makes you a ssic scumbag."

"Boss, I really think you should stop holding Ms. Sanders back from moving on. Just grant her the divorce."

"Sean," Sebastian''s voice was dangerously low.

"I told you, I was angry. The old Natalie was vicious..."

    "Boss, I don''t

''t want to argue with you. You all see Joanna through rose-colored sses. Everything she does is right, and because everyone else condemned Ms. Sanders, you all assumed she was wrong. But as an outsider, I can see that what you call gratitude and affection is just tant favoritism. True gratitude is

what Ms Sanders showed you,* staying by your side without a singleint. Joanna has done nothing but take from you since you were children; she has never given anything back. Of course, she''s the untouchable first love in your heart, so maybe she doesn''t have to. But to the rest of us, your behavior has been appalling.”

Sean let it all out in a single breath, a huge weight lifting from his shoulders. The light turned green, and he stepped on the gas.

Sebastian''sugh was cold. "So now you''re her mouthpiece, are you?" He would not grant her a divorce. He admitted he had been blind to

    Joanna''s true nature. If Natali

hadnt shown him that evidence, he never would have believed her. Joanna probably had no idea that her one sloppy move had exposed all her secrets.

Sean just smiled. “Boss, I just feel sorry for Ms. Sanders. You knew she had no source of ie, yet you forbade her from using your money. You used her as a pawn and yed your part perfectly."
