Chapter 216

Natalie found his presence absurd. “Sebastian, can''t you see that every part of me is screaming with revulsion for you?" she said. "Leave. I don''t want to see you." She closed her eyes, hoping that if she couldn''t see him, he would cease to exist. She couldn''t figure out where she had gone wrong, why Sebastian had suddenly changed his mind about the divorce.

Sebastian stood up. "Get some rest. I have a meeting at the branch office this morning. I''lle back to get you when it''s over. We need to talk.”

Natalie''s eyes snapped open. "The only thing I have to talk to you about is our divorce. I know you were involved in what happenedst night; that''s why I''ll never find the person behind it."

Sebastian''s jaw clenched. She was right; the trail had gone cold. Her distrust was a wall he couldn''t seem to break through. He let out a soft, frustrated sigh and turned to leave. At the door, he ran into Marshall, who was carrying a container of food. Marshall had changed into a fresh set of casual clothes that made him look even more like a charming, rebellious rogue.

Sebastian''s eyes zed with anger. "What are you doing here?"

Marshall''s charming eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint. "Mr. Griffith, can''t you see the lunch in my hands? I know Natalie won''t eat anything you buy for her. I couldn''t let her starve, could I?"

His words were a direct hit to Sebastian''s heart. It was true. Whatever he brought, Natalie wouldn''t touch. All she felt for him now was hatred; he could feel it

    radiating off her in waves.

"Go on then, give it to her," Sebastian said, a flicker of defeat in his eyes as he

    strode away.

Marshall entered the room. Hearing his voice, Natalie slowly sat up.

"Marshall, you''re here," she said with a faint smile. "How are you feeling?"

"Not bad. I can walk again," he replied, setting the food on the table.

Relieved, Natalie went to freshen up. Sebastian had put her in a premium VIP suite, plete with a change of clothes. She didn''t refuse them After washing up and dressing, she transferred some money to Sean and sent him a message.

[Sean, please inform your boss this is for yesterday''s medical bills and the clothes. And thank you forst night.]

After sending the message, she went to eat her lunch.

Sean received the notification just as Sebastian was getting into the car. He forwarded the money to Sebastian. Seeing the transfer, Sebastian shot Sean a questioning look.

"It''s from Ms. Sanders, boss," Sean exined. "She says it''s for the medical bills and clothes. She also said to thank you forst night."

Sebastian''s gaze darkened. "And you epted it?"

Sean nodded. "Boss, after Ms. Scott returned, you told me not to worry about Ms. Sanders''s well-being. You said had to report everything she did and said to you, That we

must not do anything to upset Ms. Scott. You also said Natalie wasn''t

worthy of using your money, so l just..."

"Drive," Sebastian snapped, his voice a low growl. The anger that had been simmering all night finally boiled over.

Sean, however, felt a sense of satisfaction. The words that had been stuck in his throat for so long were finally out. Ms. Sanders, keep it up. Stay strong. That jerk and his mistress deserve each other.

The chill emanating from Sebastian intensified. He had said those things in a fit of rage after he thought she had hurt Joanna He hadn''t expected Sean to remember or Natalie. But he himself had forgotten. Thinking of Natalie''s cold demeanor, a fresh wave of panic washed over him. She really didn''t love him anymore.
