"Hannah, where did you go today?"
The moment Hannah got home, a worried Cherry ran up to her and grabbed her hands. "I called you this afternoon, but you didn''t answer. You scared me to death! I thought maybe Melissa Rosenberg had tricked you into going somewhere. I was so scared I was about to call the police."
Hannah had just been told that she''d met with Quennel, not Lionel. She wanted to exin it was because Lionel had told Quennel he had important evidence that could ruin her ns, so she rushed over.
But then she remembered how Quennel had repeatedly warned her not to tell anyone about their meeting today. So, after a moment''s thought, she kept it to herself.
"The divorce with Lionel is just around the corner, and I''ve been so busy handling everythingtely. It''s made me really tense. So I just went out for a walk to clear my head and rx."
Hearing Hannah''s answer, Cherry let out a sigh of relief. "You definitely do need to rx. So much has happened."
"And the divorce is imminent. But Hannah, you should probably avoid going out alone right now. I''m worried that since the divorce is so close, Lionel might have someone secretly following you."
"If something bad happens to you, it would be terrible. If you want to go out, you should take one of us with you just to be safe."
After all, Lionel was a cunning and malicious person. If anything happened to Hannah before the divorce, and she couldn''t make it to the court hearing, the ruling would be postponed to ater, unknown date.
Therefore, before the hearing, Hannah absolutely had to be careful.
Hannah hadn''t been too worried at first, but after hearing what Cherry said, she realized she really did need to be more cautious.
Fortunately, her outing today had gone smoothly, and nothing had happened on the way back.
"I know what to do, don''t worry. I won''t go out on my own anymore. I''ll let you know where I''m going in advance and have youe with me."
With Hannah''s assurance, Cherry finally felt at ease.
"Hannah, let''s go get some dinner."
"Okay."
Quennel returned home in a
mood, but then a thought sheerful
him, and
his face instant
out a displeased tak
"I should have had Hannah carry a small listening device. That way, I could have
monitored her every move. What a shame."
He instinctively reached for his
phone to call Hannah but then stopped himself "Never mind U give it to her next time. She''s my beloved now anyway. Whatever I say or do, Hannah will obey."
In truth, besides wanting to know what Hannah was up to, he mainly wanted to test
if her memory had truly been altered.
After all, during the procedure, if Hannah had remained conscious, she would have known what they were doing and could have yed along to escape the restaurant perfectly
Although the ''master'' who was rmended to him was supposedly very capable and had been highly praised.
He had also investigated and found that the man was indeed skilled and had never failed a job anywhere in the world.
But it''s always better to be safe than sorry. What if he was the unlucky one, the one exception to the rule?
Then wouldn''t he be the most miserable person of all?
