Faced with Lionel''s intense questioning, Hannah didn''t flinch. She nodded emphatically, her expressionpletely natural as she replied.
"Yes, we''ll do exactly what you said. Let''s go, it''s almost our turn. I don''t want to waste any more time. I have things to do today, unlike some unemployed person with nothing better to do."
Hannah deliberately adopted a nonchnt tone, as if the whole matter was trivial and insignificant to her.
But the more indifferent she acted, the more suspicious Lionel became.
He watched as Hannah turned to walk inside, but then he stopped her again. "A verbal promise isn''t enough. Sign an agreement with me. Only then will I feelfortable going in there with you."
His words made Hannah freeze for a moment. She paused, then slowly turned back to face him.
"We''ve been fighting for so long, arguing for so long. I thought that by now, you might have matured a little. But you haven''t. You still talk with that same arrogant, condescending tone, expecting everyone to do exactly as you say."
Hannah let out a deep sigh. "Let me ask you something. You were the one who asked to meet me, you were the one who came up with this whole ridiculous n, and I agreed to it. And now you''re pulling this? What exactly are you trying to do?"
"Do you think the world revolves around you, that everyone has to y along with your whims? I''m not going to. It''s simple. Either we go in there right now, or you can get lost."
But despite Hannah''s tirade, Lionel remained fixated on his demand.
"You''re saying all this, but you keep avoiding the subject of an agreement. Is it because you never intended to get back together with me? Is that why you''re so defensive?"
Samuel, who had been listening to Lionel''s incessant whining, finally lost his temper. He pointed a finger at Lionel and shouted.
"You''re a real piece of work, you know that? You tell Hannah you want a fake divorce so you don''t have to touch your joint marital assets. You even threatened her, s? she agreed."
"And now you''re using her of nning a real divorce and trying to force her to
sign an agreement? Is there something wrong with you?"
"You cheated on her, you illegally detained someone, and now you have to paypensation. After all the stupid things you''ve done, did Hannah say a word? You proposed a fake divorce and she agreed that''s enough, Lionel. You can''t have your cake and eat it too."
Samuel''s outburst silenced the immediate area. Everyone stared, and even those whose numbers were called hesitated, wanting to see what would happen next.
"Lionel, I don''t think there''s any point in wasting our time here. Forget the agreement. Just go home and wait for the court summons. We''ll see court. At least with
each othern
Hannah didn''t waste another word on him, turning and walking back toward the parking lot.
Samuel followed close behind, shooting Lionel a contemptuous re and giving him a sarcastic thumbs-up as he passed.
"Hannah-"
Seeing that Hannah was genuinely angry and had no intention of negotiating further, Lionel panicked and ran after her.
