Chapter 697

"Then I''ll keep all the evidence, and we''ll see each other in court. It will be the

perfect ammunition for our divorce. I will do everything in my power to make sure you leave this marriage with nothing, and you''ll owe me a hefty settlement on top of that. I can''t wait to see how the Rosenberg family deals with you then!"

Having said her piece, Hannah didn''t want to waste another breath on him. She scoffed and stood up to leave.

Lionel quickly reached out and grabbed her arm.

“Hannah!” he hissed, keeping his voice low.

He wondered if she''d done this on purpose. Of all the ces she could have chosen, she picked here, just like she had in the middle of that restaurant. And the way she was sitting here, it was as if she had been waiting for him.

It seemed Cherry had told her everything, and she''d figured it all out.

"Lionel, I know you came here to talk about this, and I''ve made my position clear. There''s nothing left for us to discuss. Until our divorce is final, any financial transactions between you and your mistress will be used as evidence against you."

Lionel''s head throbbed with a dull, buzzing pain.

He squeezed the bridge of his nose, his voice dropping to a low growl. "Can you just listen to me for a minute?"

Hannah said nothing, merely staring at him with a cold expression.

People arriving for ate-night snack had started to recognize them, furtively pulling out their phones to record videos.

“Hannah.....” Lionel noticed the onlookers, his voice sinking to a whisper.

"Hannah, here''s what I was thinking. What if we get a fake divorce for now? Once I''ve paid thepensation, we can get back together. That way, it won''t touch our marital assets."

The moment the words left his mouth, Hannah blinked.

    What was he saying?

    Were those even human words?

    Was he speaking English?

Somehow, she understood the words, but the meaning seemed utterly iprehensible.

Hannah stared at Lionel in sheer disbelief, feeling as though she must have zoned out and misheard him.

"What did you just say? A fake divorce, and after you pay her off, I''m supposed to remarry you?"

Lionel nodded. “I know it might be hard to understand right now, but it''s the only way to solve the immediate problem."

"This way, I can give her thepensation money without it counting as using our marital property. We can deal with our own issuester."

Hannah took a deep, steadying breath and wrenched her arm from his grasp.

"Honestly, if you had offered to pay me double whatever you were going to give Sandra, I might have at least thought you were sane But this

Hannah was utterly incensed by his proposal.

She let out a long sigh and a bitter, helpless smile curled her lips. "But now I think you should take that money and get yourself a doctor Lonely think you''re genuinely insane!"

If he wasn''t, what kind of sane person would suggest something so absurd?

A fake divorce? Who in their right mind would agree to that sham?

He was treating her like an idiot, a pawn he could move around at will.

Furious and humiliated, Hannah rolled her eyes and turned to leave. Lionel saw her go and immediately rushed after her.

    Meanwhile, back at the Temple

family home Cherry and Samue et

who were listening in through the bug, copsed from the sofa onto the floor, roaring withughter.

Cherry pounded the floor, her face aching from trying to hold back her hysterics. "Is

he for real? Are those even the words of a sane person?"
