"I..."
Quennel''s exnation made Lionel realize he might have a point.
As he stammered, unable to form a coherent sentence, Quennel continued, "Since you have such a big problem with how I''m handling this, then you can deal with it yourself!"
With that, Quennel hung up without a hint of hesitation.
Hearing the dial tone, Lionel froze for a few seconds before it sank in that Quennel was, in fact, handling the situation, just not as quickly as he''d expected.
And, just as he said, the letter could have been scheduled in advance.
If Quennel dealt with the men now, then even if Hannah went to the meeting ce, no one would be there, and she would be safe.
But if he didn''t, Hannah would still go, and what if she ended up in the same state he was in? That would be a disaster!
Most importantly, he couldn''t leave the hospital. His wounds hadn''t healed, and his leg was injured, making it impossible to walk properly.
He waspletely useless to Hannah right now. The only person who could help was Quennel.
After much deliberation, Lionel called him again.
But it seemed the other man was genuinely angry, as the call went unanswered.
After several more attempts, Quennel finally picked up.
However, he remained silent on the other end.
"Quennel, please, go deal with those people right away."
Lionel lowered his voice, his tone pleading.
"I refuse," he replied.
"You... what do you mean? This is about Hannah! No matter what issues you have with me, you can''t just ignore her safety Quennel know you hate me but is really necessary to be this petty when ites to Hannah?"
Lionel never imagined that even after humbling himself and begging, Quennel would still refuse.
This... this was just too much!
"I know it''s rted to Hannah, but at
the end of the day, she''s still you
wife. Is it really appropriate for me to handle your wife''s affairs?"
affairs?"
Quennel''s voice wasced with
mockery.
"Besides, you''re always
bad-mouthing me to Hannah. If I do this, who''s to say you won''t just take the credit? Lionel if you want done, do it yourself!"
After saying this, Quennel let out a coldugh and hung up.
As soon as the call ended, Lionel relentlessly tried again.
However, faced with Lionel''s barrage of calls, Quennel wasn''t angry or annoyed. He simply blocked his number.
When he realized he''d been blocked, Lionel was stunned.
He never thought things would turn out this way.
What now?
What was he supposed to do now?
If Quennel really refused to help Hannah, then she would have to face those people alone.
If something happened to her, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
An overwhelming sense of dread washed over him, and Lionel was utterly terrified.
